- Bailey T.Amazing, but gigantic. Gave to my partner.5 stars because I got this bottle on sale for the same price as the 30oz, the colors are *gorgeous* and every bit as vibrant as the image shows (which I'm seeing is not typical across the board for owala) and it is indeed just a fabulous, strong water bottle. Easy to drink from the built-in straw, a joy to carry, and fits in every cup holder so far. I've already adapted better hydrating habits compared to using my old daily Nalgene.
However, I am 5'5 and wanted a bottle to carry around frequently for work. This thing is like as big as my thigh bone lol! I should have gone to a local Target or Academy to compare the 30oz vs the 40oz bottle because the size difference is significant. If you consider the added weight for a full 40oz, I set myself up for failure in terms of my needs for this bottle. My 6'2" boyfriend who loves colors and works outside all day was happy to adopt this one for me however, and I ended up purchasing a 30oz elsewhere in equally fun colors. We have both had success having ice last a full workday. His keeps cold in the car and mine usually has a good bit of ice still after 3 refills and constant use. So far so good on no-spills, and I really appreciate the lock mechanism as I work around delicate artwork all day. It would be nice if the cups were machine washable alongside the gaskets, lid, and straw-- but alas, it's easy enough to clean in the sink and probably wouldn't fit in a top rack anyway. Each bottle comes wrapped with beautifully thorough care and use instructions as well-- take the time to read it all!
Overall, I would recommend this cup 10/10. Cold water all day and a built in straw have changed my daily water intake by and large-- so if you're looking to better your hydration habits, look no further and don't overstep your needs like I did if you work around available water spouts all day... The 30oz is enough. - hollym099Staying hydrated is easy now!I looooove my Owala. I used to have the smaller version (not the Sway), but I'm happy I went with this one. The large handle makes it much easier to carry. I like that the lock on the lid can be used independently of where the handle is, unlike the older Owala version. It's super cute, and it fits in my car's cup holder. It's very easy to clean, and it holds plenty of ice and water to get me through my day. The freesip is awesome. I love that I have the choice between using the straw or sipping it like a regular bottle. Though to be honest, I pretty much only use the straw (I just like having options lol). I also love the color I got - the green (eucalyptus). I definitely recommend this water bottle!!
- MaryWorth Every Penny!!!Worth every penny! BEST water bottle EVER! Can't find a single thing to not like about it! Not for hot liquids though. But it keeps things ice cold for at least 24 hours. You can sip through the straw part, or drink through the bigger spout. Even if it topples over, it does not leak! The lid even locks for extra safety. There's indents just the right size to grab and it fits in the car cup holder. Such cool colors too!! Our entire family has one and we say we are the "Owala Club"!
- Michael WernyBetter than a Stanley: large, durable, fits in all cupholders, easy to cleanMy wife always forgets to drink water if it is not in front of her and will forget to fill up water bottles if they are empty. The 40 oz is perfect larger size water bottle that will fit any cup holder. I was worried about it not fitting in the car cupholder, but it does! The seal is really good and does not spill if it tips over. It is durable after her dropping it a few times, however it might pop open if it lands on the release button which is why I have found the lock is very useful on the 40 oz. I have owned an Owala before and they are very easy to clean because it is mainly plastic unlike Stanley water bottles where the twist has rubber part to seal it which is harder to dismantle to clean. On this water bottle, don't forget to take out the rubber seal when cleaning. If you find it is growing mold, you can easily buy a few replacements, they are very easy to replace and they're very cheap.

The two-way spout is genuinely useful, the insulation keeps drinks cold for hours, and it hasn’t leaked at all. The handle makes it easy to carry, and the finish looks sleek without showing wear. - AnnaAwesome water bottle!Great travel water bottle. It has a spout and a straw and I like that the mouth piece can be covered and locked. Especially with young kids who want to play with/dump it. It holds 30 oz which I feel is the right amount. I like that it has a handle at the top and that the bottom gets skinnier for a cup holder. I also like the multiple colors on it. I recommend!
- ShannonOwala does it againFinally have a large bottle that fits in a cup holder. Love the owala drinking spout. No leaking and keeps cold for long period of time. Good quality, was worth the money and wait for delivery.
- HelaMust Purchase Water Bottle!I debated between an Owala and Hydroflask and ended up getting an Owala for it's vast fun colors as well as functionality. It keeps your water cold for more than 24 hours, has a straw for sipping and a spout for regular drinking, really nice design as well.
The only issue I have had with it is that the straw sometime comes off on it's own which can be annoying. I know it's there so you can take it out to wash but it coming off on it's own is tedious. The second issue is that if it falls over the lid opens way too easily and spills. It does have a lock for the lid but no ones uses it every time after drinking water so I wish the lid wouldn't open so easily.
Overall though really awesome, good quality and value, as well as good functionality. It's also one of the very few water bottles with a all black design since most have some sort of silver or grey metal showing thru which was annoying but Owala solved that!
