For me, they are high-rise and sit just below my belly button. I'm 5'5", and the length is perfect and hits just as is shown on the model.

Wash well, don't shrink and very comfortable.
I would order based on waist. As long as it's not too tight, I would size down as to not have too much material in the back. They do run a little large. I ordered medium and they were not loose or baggy at all. Tight around my midsection. I typically wear a small or medium in all bottoms. 130, 5’3.
