Yes it has plastic but very sturdy and will not rust. The size was adjustable and no issues. This is a valuable product that I would highly recommend!!!
I bought this a few weeks ago and installed the day it arrived. And my wife loves it for the quite refill of our tank and very quick too. Outstanding instructions made a hero out of this DIY'er. - JoelGreat Product, But Watch for Faulty Shutoff ValveI’ve installed the Fluidmaster 400H-002 Performax Universal Toilet Fill Valve in all my toilets and generally love its performance—quiet, efficient, and easy to install. The adjustable settings make it versatile for different tank sizes, and it’s been reliable in most cases.
However, one unit has an issue: it emits a high-pitched noise, likely from a leaking valve, and the water level slowly rises to the top of the overflow tube, wasting water. Jiggling the float temporarily stops the noise, but the problem persists. I raised the overflow tube to force the valve to shut off, but the water level still creeps up over time, indicating a faulty shutoff valve. Unfortunately, it’s past the return window, so I’m stuck with it.
Check my attached photo for a visual of the issue (overflow tube and water level). I’d still recommend this product for its overall quality, but be aware of potential valve issues and test it promptly after installation. Great price for two sets! - gentryFluidmaster 400H-002 is a quality unit.This unit is better than advertised. It is well built, easy to adjust re height, water flow etc. Five minute install which included time to read / see the notes regarding length of the unit adjustment, hose placement etc.
Works as advertised. And the price......more than A ok. - Pettinato FamilyEasy to install and customize.This was extremely easy to install and customize. Simply unscrew the water line and nut on the old fill valve and remove it. Then place this one in the tank and screw the nut on and connect the water. Make sure you turn off the water and hold down the flush lever to get rid of as much water as you can from the tank first. I was able to hold the old valve in place after removing the nut so I could place a pitcher under the hole to catch the remaining water.
Once connected, you can turn the valve next to the soft tube to adjust the water flow or turn the knob above the float arm to adjust how much water goes into the toilet. The whole process took me a few minutes and the most difficult part was getting to the correct spot on the toilet due to tight spacing.
I like how easily it can be adjusted once installed. No need to remove lines or anything, just turn the knob.
The valve is no quieter than the OEM one, but it is also no louder when the fill knob is opened all the way. If you close that little knob a bit, the toilet will get noisier.
EDIT: I realized some of the noise I was hearing was because the water shut-off wasn't open all the way. Once I opened it, this became very quiet and it fills very quickly.
One thing I will point out is that, while the description says you can adjust how much water is added to the tank and can control how much water is used during a flush, this may not work with your toilet. In my case, if I do not have it fill to the same level as before, the toilet doesn't flush unless I hold the handle down longer, resulting in using the same amount of water overall. - Dave-SGreat Product – Easy Installation, Best Guide I’ve Ever SeenI purchased the Fluidmaster 400H PerforMAX Fill Valve from Amazon and installed it today. The valve itself works flawlessly, and the installation was incredibly smooth. What truly impressed me was the Quick Install Guide included in the box—hands down the clearest, most complete, and easy-to-follow instructions I’ve ever seen for any product. Fluidmaster has set a new standard for user-friendly documentation. I wish more manufacturers—across all industries—would take a lesson from this. Outstanding job.
