Part of that i found myself wondering what was active at night, and to be able to see what's hiding in the bushes and in the little caves scattered about the property.
For that i picked up something designed for more range, a rattler v2.
As it was my first thermal, i was absolutely amazed with it.
Then for Christmas year, i found myself wondering what to get my dad for Christmas.
I ran across a thermal review video featuring a couple different handheld units including this topdon.
For my dad, a handheld unit is perfect.
I know my dad likes black hot and white hot views.
So it's important that the unit has options.
This one has it all, even black and white with red hot and full color scale.
The topdon unit arrived, and i decided i better try it out before giving it to him.
If it sucks, back it goes and i would have bought something else.
Out of the box, boy does this thing have a little heft.
A good sign.
Using it around the house, it works great.
I can see my foot print on the flooring, i can see little paw prints from the dogs.
I can even trace their steps, and see the dog was on the couch but got off the moment i came into the room... lol
I was a little concerned due to the sensor being bottom of the line with resolution but it's great.
Looking around the house, i see some weak spots in my insulation.
I can also see every board/stud in my walls.
Pretty neat.
Now i want one of these for myself!
The temperature readout is also super handy.

Not the sellers fault though
