5.0 out of 5 stars My son likes it

I bought it for my 8 years old son. He likes it. Now he and his Dad watch the sky for more than one hour everyday using the telescope. I think it is good enough for a beginner. It is very easy to assemble. My husband just used several minutes to set it up. It came with a bag, so it is easy for you to carry it to somewhere.

This is my first telescope and this thing has got me hooked on stargazing! It came perfect with nothing damaged. It’s super simple to set up and get started.
The only thing I don’t like about this scope is the tripod it came with. I’m not sure if something is wrong with the one that came with mine but it is not very stable at all and it is hard to center and properly focus on what you are looking at. I just slapped the telescope on a better tripod and this thing is perfect.
The telescope gives a way more clear view then what I was expecting at this price range and I haven’t tried any upgraded eye pieces yet. Overall I’m really happy with this being my first telescope and really surprised by how much you can see with even a small telescope.

We got this for the deck that no one uses hardly at all,
We set it up last night and they were out there for over an hour looking at the moon
and space. This was such a grand idea.
It was set up in 5 minutes and ready to go.
We saw the moon as we have seen it before!
I wish we would have bought one of these years ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars Light, portable, and easy to assemble!

This was my first telescope and I was worried it would be very complicated, but the directions & build made it very easy and quick to assemble and disassemble, even in low light. The phone holder takes a little getting used to but worked much better once I took off my phone's case. Can't wait to play with this on the next full moon!

1.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like it

It is really flimsy and if there is the slightest breeze, it’s mealy impossible to get a clear image.

The tripod needs to be stronger for the weight of the telescope. Also, the phone attachment attaches, but even with a smaller iPhone, the weight of the phone pulls to much on the telescope that it won’t stay on the item you are attempting to view or take photos of.

I took it up into the mountains away from any light pollution and the sky was incredible, however, we couldn’t get it to focus on a single star or planet.

The only thing it works well for at night, is the moon. Which is fine, but for the price point, I would expect a bit more. It wasn’t much better than just some regular binoculars.

Not worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Beginners and Enthusiasts Alike!
Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2024
I purchased this telescope a few weeks ago, and it has completely exceeded my expectations! The setup was incredibly easy, even for someone like me who is fairly new to stargazing. The instructions were clear, and within minutes I had it ready to go.

The image clarity is stunning. I was able to see craters on the moon with sharp detail, and I even caught a glimpse of Saturn's rings! The included lenses provide a range of magnifications, making it easy to switch between close-up views of the planets and broader views of star clusters.

One of the best features is its sturdy yet lightweight design. It’s easy to move around and position, but once it's set up, it stays steady, even on windy nights. The tripod is solid, and the telescope itself feels well-built and durable.

Overall, this telescope has opened up a whole new world of exploration for me. It’s perfect for beginners looking to learn and grow, but I can also see it being a great choice for more experienced astronomers. Highly recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Way Overrated

If you only want to look at the moon or some distant mountain, I guess this telescope rates 4 stars, but I don't know how it rates over 3 stars for star gazing. Here is why.

The finder scope is nearly useless. The finder scope has a nice magnifying lens and cross hairs, but it attaches to the telescope with a non-adjustable plastic mount that that is not well aligned with the telescope. The mount uses a proprietary fixture to connect to the telescope, so it's impossible to replace. The misalignment is almost embarrassing. A cheap rifle with zero scope has better aim this fancy scope. It would cost them less than $2 to make the mount adjustable, so they more than deserve to lose a star in their rating. I would forgive them and give them back the star if they sold an upgraded adjustable mount, but they don't.

The Barlow lens is lightweight plastic junk. The moment I picked it up, I thought it was a joke and went looking in the bag for the real Barlow lens. The whole thing, and even the lens is lightweight plastic and the lens is low quality. I tried using it to look at Jupiter and created chromatic color splits that rendered the telescope useless. For an extra $10-$15, they could have included a decent Barlow lens. The Barlow lens is an insult to the buyer's intelligence and so again, I removed a star from the rating.

As for the rest of the telescope, it still merits 3 stars. The main lenses seem adequate, the images are sharp, and the focus mechanism works correctly. I'm not sure if the eyepiece lenses are glass or plastic, but they are optically clearer and much more glass-like than the Barlow lens. Yes, the tripod is lightweight, but for the sake of low-price and portability, it is certainly more than adequate. If the telescope sold for $80 and without any pretentions of being a better telescope, I'd give them 4 stars.
