5.0 out of 5 stars A very worthy addition to your camera bag

I picked up this lens for a very specific reason--to pair with my Xt1 I had and essentially "convert" it to a point and shoot to toss in my pocket. When it arrived, it matched perfectly with the xt1's small size and I immediately began to take a liking to it.

The TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 lens is an affordable option that packs an impressive punch for its price point, especially at just $149. This compact, lightweight pancake lens boasts a sturdy metal build, a user-friendly aperture control dial, and a swift, quiet autofocus—making it well-suited for street photography and everyday use. The lens is particularly sharp, delivering excellent center sharpness at all apertures and achieving full-frame sharpness at f/5.6 to f/8, rivaling more expensive options.

One of the standout aspects is the almost nonexistent chromatic aberration and the appealing sunstars it produces when stopped down. Additionally, the lens’s character comes through in its unique image rendering, offering an "old-school" vibe in certain light situations, which can be appealing for photographers seeking distinctive aesthetics.

On the downside, the lens does have a few limitations. Its vignetting at f/2.8 is visible and requires some corrections in editing. Also, images tend to suffer from low contrast and flare under backlighting, but not too much that it cannot be compensartred for after the fact. These are very forgivable shortcomings given its budget-friendly price. In the right settings this lens performs admirably, making it a strong option for those looking for value over perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny but mighty!

So happy with the TTArtisan 27mm. The f2.8 is great and it’s a sharp lens. There’s a bit of vignetting at 2.8 but not distracting and I think it adds depth to my photos. It’s my favorite lens to use right now because I can get close to my subjects (families and portrait photography) and have that depth of field. It’s super light and very small so I’ll be using it for my upcoming travel too. For the price, it’s incredible value for money. Get it! You won’t regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very compact lens with quality images
Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2024
The media could not be loaded.
I've used the 7Artisan 27mm 2.8 lens on my Fuji X-S10 and X-H2. What I like about this lens is that it is super compact and has an aperture ring with grips to make it easier to adjust. The lens has solid feel and construction and looks good on both cameras. Image quality is good and it is adequately sharp for the photos I have taken so far. Color rendition is good. Video quality is good as well.

    Cons
There is some vignetting but its correctable in post. I rated the lens 4 stars only because in medium to low light AF is often not as quick locking onto the subject. The AF hunts and pulses before it locks on sometimes in those conditions. Doesn't seem to be an issue in video mode so far. AF is a little loud but not unbearable unless you are doing video and using the camera microphone. The firmware update process did not give me clear indication that the firmware was actually updated after I performed the steps as directed. Seems that the text file loaded on the lens which displays the firmware version is not readable by my Mac or my Windows PC.

    Conclusion
I like the lens and the quality is good enough to be one of my daily use lenses. Its so compact that I dont mind carrying it as an extra lens especially for travel. I assume that AF performance may get better with future firmware updates but currently its good enough for me as a daily use lens, video, and even for some professional use.

I once bought a Fujifilm 27mm first-generation lens to match the x-e3, but it was too slow to focus. Now I got my x-t50 in august For the convenience of carrying, I bought the TTartisan 27mm f2.8 with some doubts. The result was unexpectedly $157. It was simply Found a treasure. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to the Fuji pancake lens
Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2024
I was quite surprised when this arrived. For the price I assumed it would be made out of plastic. Instead, I received a nicely crafted lens with a metal housing. It has a nice aperture ring with positive clicks, and a small lens shade is included. In my testing I found the lens to be very sharp even wide open. The three photos I am including were shot at widest aperture of 2.8. I also own the Fujinon 27mm and this lens from TTArtisan is sharper wide open. The autofocus is fast and silent. There are two minor negatives to the lens. First, it does show some vignetting. This is mostly obvious against a bright background or with a lot of sky in the image. My photo of the sun sculpture shows the vignetting. Second, it does tend to flare more than the Fuji lenses if you have a strong light source in the frame. Neither of these are deal breakers for me, be something to be aware of. As a 40mm equivalent lens, this is perfect for street photography, and the small pancake size makes it great as a travel lens. I am frankly amazed at sharpness, built quality, and autofocus for such a low price. It is nearly the same size as the Fuji, so if you are looking to get that lens, this is a great alternative. I actually prefer it and will be selling my Fuji and keeping this. At the time of this review, the price is $159 and I find that to be an absolute bargain for the quality you are getting. I rarely leave 5 star reviews, but this one definitely deserves it.
