5.0 out of 5 stars The VILTROX 56mm F1.7 is an outstanding value for any Fuji photographer
Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025
As a hobbyist photographer using a Fuji X-T3, I was searching for an affordable prime portrait lens and decided on the VILTROX 56mm F1.7 Fuji XF. It has exceeded my expectations.

This lens is lightweight, making it ideal for extended shoots. Its image quality is impressive, with sharp details and stunning bokeh that enhances portraits beautifully. The f/1.7 aperture ensures excellent low-light performance, allowing versatility in various conditions.

Although it lacks a physical aperture ring, the electronic adjustment is intuitive and easy to use. Autofocus isn't the fastest but performs reliably for portraits and handles moving subjects with minimal issues.

Overall, the VILTROX 56mm F1.7 is an outstanding value for any Fuji photographer seeking quality and affordability.

5.0 out of 5 stars I would wager to say these are BETTER than fuji lenses
Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2022
Okay by no means are these going to be "optically" better than fuji lenses but the differences are negligible.
The reason I think these compete head to head with fuji branded lenses are because of the VALUE. Optically these are on par with my fuji equivalent lenses at almost half the price. The autofocus is SO much faster and they have software updates to improve even more over time. The contrast on these lenses are beautiful and the Bokeh is just as dreamy as any fuji lens albeit more pronounced. Highlight roll off is clean and lens flare is very minimal. There is some slight purple fringing that I do not see as often on fuji lenses BUT at the price of this lens it's definitely not a deal breaker and can be easily corrected in photoshop.

    Pros
-AMAZING QUICK autofocus BEST i've EVER seen on a mirrorless
-cannot beat the price point for the quality
    -software updates improve lens performance
-comes with a metal lens hood feels VERY premium and a nice carrying pouch
-super sharp at the sweet spot cant tell the difference between this and fuji at 5.6 aperture
-perfect for video because the autofocus is so accurate and works really well with eye tracking

    Cons
-purple fringing in some scenes hard to avoid sometimes
-Viltrox doesn't yet have a multi focal length lens for fuji which is really a bummer you're locked to prime lenses
-some older lenses have micro USB where as the new 13mm is USB C so having multiple cables can be an annoyance

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultra-sharp, less isolation
Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2024
This is a staggeringly good lens. It's sharp across the frame right from wide open and sharper at any aperture than my Fuji 56/1.2R. Colors are the same, contrast is better, and it weighs nothing. Focus is fine in my early tests: silent and quick. The only thing the Fuji does better is background isolation. At equivalent apertures, the Fuji's bokeh balls are bigger, there's more blur, and it's slightly more telephoto in angle of view. And of course, f/1.2 has even more isolation (the Fuji's trump card is definitely portraiture where isolation trumps detail) and adds a full stop of light gathering. Still, coming from a long history with Canon, Nikon, and Sony, there has never been a better set of optics from a 50-56 f/1.7-f/1.8 lens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible image and build quality, premium lens for an affordable price!
Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2023
This lens blew my expectations and was worth every penny! It features excellent autofocus, build quality, and sharpness, and its title of "bokeh king" is deserved, with smooth and creamy backgrounds. It is sharp even at f/1.2, and I have consistently been impressed by the image quality for all uses. Although it is a bit heavy, it is well-built and feels solid when shooting -- the metal build and weather sealing provide peace of mind. The aperture ring on this lens is something I found myself missing on its earlier lenses, and is very convenient when shooting. I have found myself taking this lens out regularly now with my 18-50mm zoom, and it has been perfect for portraits, low-light environments, and whenever I need the extra reach!

Overall, the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 is a great lens for the price. If you are looking for a fast, sharp, and affordable lens for your Fujifilm X-mount camera, the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 is a great option.

Final update, October 2022: excellent lens for Astro and general daily use. I do really love it. I would quickly replace it with another if I happened to lose it.

May 16 edit: Coming back a bit earlier than previously stated just to say that this lens is pretty awesome. I want to support the manufacturer for creating such a unique lens for the X-Mount. For being an UWA lens, it's surprisingly sharp. And the colors I'm getting from it ???? muah! The build quality is similar to Fuji -- it's good. The usability is high. I don't regret my purchase and will still update this review on/after June 11th as promised.

    Original review:

I will update this review on/around June 11th. This is my first impressions review after unboxing and quick testing and is in no way a full review of the lens.

First impressions are good. It was boxed well, it fits snuggly on the camera, it feels sturdy, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious optical issues. Spot autofocus works, manual focus is smooth, and the aperture ring feels nice. The software of the lens was compatible with the camera out of the box, and the camera reacts to the aperture and focus rings instantly and seamlessly.

The lens is also a bit lighter than expected, which is nice for an all metal lens. The hood is also metal.

I wish this lens was weather resistant as I'm an outdoor all-weather shooter. I understand that Viltrox doesn't have the dev resources of Fujifilm though, and had this been produced by Fuji it would cost easily over $1,000. So I won't fault Viltrox for this.

A bit heavy but looks great and focuses much better than I had anticipated. 20mm equivalent with low light capabilities is a great tool for my Fuji collection.
