5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Quality Lens

I bought the new A6700 Sony camera and bought this lens to go with it. All the praise that this lens gets are more than justified. It is extraordinary. Clean and clear with a beautiful bokeh. I photograph deer that come to visit me with this lens and the photos I get are stunning. Super clarity. Fast auto focus. Nice size and balance for this type of lens. Nice smooth manual zoom as well. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An ideal lens for the traveler

This is a wonderful lens that I purchased from Amazon Warehouse for my sony a6600 and a6000. I have no idea why folks would give this lens anything but a five star rating. See for yourself-check out the many pro reviews of this lens on You Tube-no pro reviewer has given this lens anything but a steller rating! I travel internationally and use zooms all the time since great shots of people, animals, or scenery cannot be reached quickly by walking and if you want to capture the moment a zoom lens allows you many different photos that a prime lens can't get. When I go to soccer games, or any sporting activity, am in nature shooting photos of animals, or in the city shooting close ups of various scenes, a 350mm reach allows for wonderful intimate and clear images. So why is this lens so good? l. It's relatively small size is crucial for travelers, including fairly light weight and a compact size that can fit in a small half-day pack. 2. The fact that it is a Sony lens makes it easy to sync with the A6600's image stabilization and auto focusing sensors. 3. The images produced are of high quality. 4. The lens has a significant reach-over 500mm converted to full frame. Cons-lack of a certain setting results in any object close by, such as a chain link fence (if you are at a zoo and trying to shoot through a fence creating focusing problems with your subject in the distance; 2. The lens is not good in low light settings so is essentially a day lens only. With this lens I feel very complete in terms of what I'll be bringing with my A6600 camera body: Sigma 30mm, Sony 18-135, Sony 70-350, and one wide angle (small lens). This is a very complete kit for shooting wonderful photos and videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lens for the price

I originally bought this for a Sony FX30 APSC camera that I eventually sold. A few weeks ago I bought a Sony A7CR and I've found this to be a great lightweight telephoto for when I don't want to carry around my larger full frame lenses. The A7CR in crop mode is still 26MP.

Attached photos were shot using the A7CR in Crop mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing lens

I bought this lens for wildlife and some landscape ideas I had. It's been amazing and sharp for both of those purposes. However, I find I really like using it for daily shots too as the compression you get can give some interesting perspective that you can't get with shorter zooms or primes. It's an amazing lens that you will love.

An excellent match for the a6xxx series cameras. Very close focus (approx 4 ft at full 350mm zoom), and very fast focus. I did an image-resolution test against a similar Tamron lens, and it far excelled in IQ. Compact and excellent quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, compact telephoto for travel, but not a choice for Pro quality.

This lens fills a gap in the Sony APS-C lens line up, and it does so more than competently. After several weeks of frequent use, my quandary before my return period expires in January is how badly do I need that gap filled, and whether this money would be better spent against a 200-600 or 100-400 and just using a recent A7R model. Many of my issues are not with the lens, but with Sony’s APS-C bodies.

Things I like:

Very light for the focal length
Compact size fits well with my A6500 and A6000
Very Good sharpness
Seems well made
Autofocus is reasonably fast

Things I don’t like:

The A6500/6000 are not well suited to long lenses. You need a grip to hold any extreme tele reasonably steady.
The controls on the Sony crop bodies lack a front control wheel, which makes hampers changes during action.
The results are quite sharp, but lack the snap of the 100-400 or 200-600 at 18mp APS-C on the A7RIII.
The autofocus is more than acceptable, but lacks the speed of its bigger siblings which I have rented.
The max opening of F/6.3 is slow for the 350mm length. It is also not dazzling at that FL and aperture. F/8 is the true minimum.
No teleconverter is available. No focus limit switch.
For birding 350mm is a minimum. Cropping exacerbates issues of sharpness and high ISO from the slow aperture.

If I am traveling light, this is a terrific option with the compact bodies. This lens plus the Zeiss 16-70/F4 covers all you are likely to need (maybe adding a little Sigma prime for indoors) and the whole thing fits in a small bag or waist pack. The question is whether one travels light often enough to need this compact kit. In a perfect world for me, Sony would make a compact 300mm/F4 prime and converter like Pentax and Nikon, and their crop bodies would have front control wheels and no AA filters. Life isn’t perfect.

I have wanted a zoom lens that I can use on wildlife and landscapes. This lens is pretty impressive! Not the greatest in low light, but for the price it’s exactly what I was looking for.

An excellent, long reach, broad range super telephoto for a Sony E-mount, APSC sensor camera. Everything I was hoping for in a relatively compact package. Not light but not heavy either, solid feel, smooth operation. Did buy a ring tripod mount as my A6400 is a little outclassed by the mass of the lens. Was initially nervous buying used but was very pleased with the vendor and the spotless quality of the lens. Packaging could have been a little better but it arrived safely and so far performs flawlessly.
