5.0 out of 5 stars At that price, how can you afford NOT to buy it?

The image quality with this lens attachment isn't stunning, but what do you expect for such a low price? There's lots of blur and chromatic aberration around the periphery of the image--much more so than in a more expensive lens. Some of that can be corrected in an photo manipulation program (Photoshop, or GIMP for those of us who like free software). I get the best results with manual focus and the image stabilization turned off (I've tested it so far with a Canon 18-55mm EFS lens). It's a fun lens for the occasional creative shot--I'd never use a "real" fisheye lens enough to justify the cost. Good build quality, although the downside is that to attach it to the 58-mm threads on my lens, I need to screw the included adapter onto it. You can't store the lens with adapter on it, because the included cap won't fit on it, so it's slightly more cumbersome to take on and off than if they'd just made it 58 mm.

As a side note, you can unscrew the 0.35x macro lens from the back, add it to your camera's lens and get a serviceable, if not great, macro lens. Not terribly impressive, but it's an easy enough way to dip your toe into macro waters if you haven't before.

As a final note, I'm horrified by the reviews here of people disappointed because they thought this was a standalone lens they were going to attach to their camera, rather than a lens attachment that screws on to the filter threads of your lens. How do you guys function in the real world? Do you buy a car and then gripe that act all mystified and upset when you learn you have to also buy fuel to put in it? Seriously, you didn't notice any of the usual specs for a lens stating what sort of mounts you could use? Sheesh!

4.0 out of 5 stars great value lots of fun

this attachment is plenty fun and super value. i attached it to my efs 24mm lens. macros shots are super cool and the fisheye works great for cool pictures. the fisheye only works with the macro attached, otherwise will not be able to focus. at least on my system. Canon t3i.

lens hood came loose which is the reason for 4 stars. and i don't know how to secure it. is fine because it doesn't affect the function.

Works good. This is a good way to get a nice fisheye effect without spending tons of money on an expensive lens. This was good for me, because I only use it once in blue moon when I want take different "artistic" photos. It just wouldnt have practical for me to spend $400-$500 on lens. Bottom line: It works great and a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great "Fun" Lens ... at a great price

Great "Fun" Lens ... at a great price ! I bought this lens pair for $ 19.95 on a lightning deal. It seems to be well made, but obviously at that price the optics are fairly basic. It will attach to most 52mm threaded lenses. It works with my Nikon D3200 (even though the description for this unit says it is for the Canon EOS, the box and paperwork make no mention of ANY camera). There are 2 pieces and nor real instructions. I used only the base lens ( labeled MACRO ) only for really close-up photos (in the 1" or so range). In this configuration, you really need to be aware of dust on the lenses and they get "blown up" as well as the image !
To get the playful "fish-eye" images i had to have both lenses - the bigger piece mounted in front of the MACRO lens. The camera needs to be set in Manual focus mode for both types of photos as this is NOT an Auto lens. Vignetting will occur with the fish-eye, but that's what fish-eye is all about ! Overall, fun to play around with !

4.0 out of 5 stars Slight disappointment, but mostly good.

So I was hoping this would give me a little more of a fish eye effect than it actually does. When you read other reviewers say that it's really a semi-fisheye, they are right. The glass seems nice and the build quality is acceptable. It's a decent product. If you consider the price, it's a fantastic product. Some people are under the assumption that this is a stand alone lens. It is not. It screws on to your existing lens, in case you were confused by that.

The instructions and box infer that it has a detachable macro lens. To my mind this meant that if you want to do macro you can attach it, and if you don't want macro you can un-screw it to get more fisheye. This is not the case. The lens will not give you a focused image without the macro section. You cannot use the lens without the macro on it as far as I can tell. Furthermore, the macro lens attachment actually corrects some of the fisheye distortion that the main section gives you. I took the macro section off and held (with my hand) the main section at a distance from my lens and shot through the lens to achieve a really cool fisheye effect. But it is silly to shoot this way. I don't know why they didn't include a tube to replace the macro section so that you can shoot with a more dramatic fisheye effect. It is really curious to me that they would put a macro lens section in there that reverses the fish eye effect and the lens doesn't work without this section. I would pay twice the price for a better designed lens.

I use Canon and Nikon DSLRs. If you use this lens with say, a 50mm prime, you will increase the field of view considerably, but have just a little fisheye effect. I can see this being very useful if you are doing interior shots of buildings and landscape shots in nature. It's also pretty cool shooting flowers and things close up. I put it on a 35mm prime and the fisheye effect was much more prominent, obviously, but still not as dramatic as I was hoping. I'm sure if you used a lens lower than 35mm it would really start to shine as a fisheye.

So that's the deal with my experience. I hope it helps.
