5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter DSLR

My first digital camera, now nearly 20 years old and still functioning, was a FujiFilm FinePix that has served me well and takes fine snapshots. However, there have been many limitations with it that have prevented most types of artistic adjustments and it took rather unappetizing pictures of food. Back in my days of shooting filme instead of digits, my old Canon FTb with numerous lenses and filters was lots of fun to use and even though my work was far from professional, there are many picture taken by it that are really pretty good.
Well, my new Canon EOS Rebel T6, package with 2 lenses has been quite a treat! It took a couple evenings to go through the instructions and figure out even the most basic operations, but it has been a great learning experience and some of the images coming out of it are are getting better and better. Not to mention that the food I'm shooting looks much more appetizing!

1.0 out of 5 stars How I learned that "Amazon Renewed" is a meaningless term
Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2020
I've bought a few things off Amazon marked as 'renewed,' and up until now had no problems. After this one, though, I'll never try it again.

My camera kit came from a company supposedly in New York City, bearing a slew of issues right out of the box. First, I was sent a Rebel T5 -- *not* a T6 as advertised. The bag wasn't as pictured, or the memory card, and the T5 had very obviously not been refurbished in the slightest. It was covered in cosmetic defects, and the first major problem presented when I opened the battery/memory card slot; the insides were covered in a yellow-ish powder, like pollen that gathers on objects left outside in spring. That very well may have been what it was. I suspect this may have led to the next problem.

That next problem? The camera was critically flawed on arrival. It turned on, you could attach lenses, look through the viewfinder, and even snap a picture. But the instant one was taken, instead of showing a preview on the screen like normal, the camera displayed a certain 'Error 30' which I could only make go away by turning it off and on again. This *would* take a picture and save it to the SD card, but it meant you could take no more than one picture every ten to fifteen seconds, and to call it irritating would be putting it lightly.

So, I initiated a return/refund. Surprise, the return shipping isn't covered! $20 I'll never have back. But, with little to be done for it, I paid the return shipping fees and sent it back. USPS confirmed it was received about three days later. *Three weeks* went by, and I heard nothing about a refund, so I had to contact Amazon Support, who encouraged the seller to issue the refund. A few days later, this did get me the refund, but it did nothing for the money I lost and the headache caused by the entire experience.

In short, it doesn't seem that "Amazon Renewed" means much of anything. Amazon lets third-party sellers resell used products, claiming that they've been refurbished when apparently they aren't always, with the stamp of approval of their very own brand name. Save yourself some trouble and just buy new, or buy refurbished from a trusted source.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!

Sometimes I'm skeptical about 'renewed' products as I've had both ends where they are great and then also where they are less than great. This has been a great item and bundle! Especially for the price. My daughter has been able to figure out how to use it and likes all the features!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price--everything you need to start

I was told by a few professional photographers that this camera was a good camera, and they werent wrong. Ive only been fooling around with it and i get great pictures. The one i have comes with everything i need to get started, and a thick instruction book to get you familiar with terms. Definitely worth the buy for either starting a new hobby or just to have better pictures in life in General
