I am of the older generation where all cameras had flash automatically when you took a picture in the dark. These new cameras no longer have that flash option. It took me a while to figure out how to put on the light in this camera but now I know to hit the top button first before taking a picture. This will put the light on the front of the camera on to take a picture in the dark. I guess this is like the old flash cameras but something I have to get used to doing.

Not for a pro, but a great kid's camera

Okay, I gave this 5 stars, but I don't want anyone to think that I am comparing this to a professional quality camera--it is definitely NOT that. It's just that, for a very inexpensive camera, this has a lot of nice features. If this camera was available 50 years ago, it would cost in the thousands (or more) because digital cameras did not exist. People's minds would be blown! Even 25 years ago, the tech in this thing would have been absolutely astounding to almost everyone on the planet. We have become jaded by the influx of so many newer, better, tech devices that this now seems blase, but that shouldn't keep us from recognizing the work and the finesse that goes into creating something like this. In many ways, this is still a mind-boggling achievement in a tiny box and should be appreciated for that alone.

As for this specific camera ... first of all, it is very intuitive and easy to operate. I have 17 trail cameras and this is not much more difficult to figure out than those are. It has a huge screen for its size, so you can quickly see what you are aiming at to frame your shots. The placement of the shutter control button is good as well, and very easy to access. I have medium-sized hands, but I think even a child would have no difficulty pressing the button while aiming the camera. The camera is also extremely light-weight--another factor to think about if you plan to buy this for a child. It takes single shots or video and the menu is easy to navigate.

The camera comes with a 32GB SD card (which you need to format in the camera--it's simple), two batteries so you can always have one as backup while charging the other, and a USB charging cord (which you also use to upload shots to your pc, laptop, etc.). There is a cord to attach to the camera for carrying and a little silky drawstring bag to store it in.

One thing I really like about this is that it doesn't look like a toy. I see a lot of brightly colored or figural cameras (think teddy bears and unicorns) that look like pretend cameras even though some of them have rather impressive specs. This one actually looks like a real grownup camera. I think kids will appreciate that. Most kids over the age of 8 want to be grownups. They don't want to be treated like babies. Give them a camera they don't have to feel silly using!

I don't want anyone to think this is a substitute for a quality professional camera, but even adult newbies to the world of photography could learn a thing or two using this, and you might even find it useful to do some quick preliminary shots for reference before hauling out your Nikon, Pentax or Canon. In other words, just because it is cheap and is admittedly more of a kid's camera, does not mean it doesn't have real value.

Incredible Capabilities for the Price!

Firstly, I don’t know if I just got lucky or what, but the camera I received is levels above the advertised 12mp camera. I suggest you message the seller for clarification before placing your order, because what I received for this incredible price is a 44mp camera, in a box marked 24mp camera, from a listing that advertised a 12mp camera! Not only is the camera actually 44mp, but it can record in 4K 30! That’s not all: This camera actually came with a 32GB SD card already installed along with a second battery! I ordered the camera for my 8 year old son because he is interested in photography and videography. He will be spoiled from the get-go with this thing! The camera is impressively lightweight and has a full range of adjustable settings like you find on higher end cameras. Everything from color balance to exposure is customizable. The little view finder screen is very low resolution, but don’t let that fool you. Uploading the pics from the SD card to a computer will reveal brilliant full resolution 44mp images. Again, for the price, the image quality is impressive. Recordings at all resolutions (1080, 2K, and 4K) are all very nice, but 4K footage has a noticeably better color range than the 2K mode. Low light footage is marginal, but that is to be expected with a sensor at this price range. Outdoor footage is fairly exceptional. Wrap this entire package into the included soft carrying case and you have yourself quite an unbelievable value for the price paid!

This is a really nice camera and it’s very easy to use. The instructions are very clear. I got it for my daughter who loves taking pictures and making short videos. She’s 11 and has no problem using it. I love the large screen and how compact it is. It’s also reasonably priced.

I do love this camera for it simplicity. But in using it over several days, I did not like one thing about it. That is the auto focus feature. Reason is that there is a 2 or 3 second lag between picture and it makes 2 out of 3 photos blurry. I do not know how to shut this off. Have asked for help with others and I could not get it. so must get another point and shoot that does not have this lag.
