5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Can't go wrong with Vortex.

About two years ago while hunting down in South Carolina for hogs I would sometimes get placed looking over a large field. My little 8x nockers didn't help too much. So while in the stand I bought a 12x pair from Vortex after reading many many reviews. I couldn't be happier with them.

Fast forward to this week. I had a little 8x Nikon pair of nockers that fell off my table and broke. I was just looking to replace them for the task at hand. I only needed to look 200-250 yards at deer in the fields below the cabin. It's not asking too much. So I bought a cheap pair of Made in (hina that had many good reviews. They sucked past 50 yards.

After setting up their return I went to Wally World and bought their best pair of Bu$hnell. They were garbage. So I immediately ordered these Vortex Vanquish nockers. I was hesitant for two reasons. First they were the cheapest from Vortex and second their design was a bit weird shaped.

Well both of those were unfounded. I could immediately feel the quality as I brought them up to my face. The image was crystal clear with no abboration whatsoever. Plus the design feels really good in my hands as if they were designed to fit them perfectly.

This being my second pair of Vortex I can honestly say I'll never buy another brand. These fit the bill perfectly, priced right with the amount of quality you'd expect. Thank you Vortex!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lightweight binoculars for birdwatching

This review is for the Vanquish 8x26 model. The box says "Made in the Philippines."

Initial impression: these are perfect for lightweight critter-watching with a wider field of view than others in this size. They easily fit into a coat or a car door pocket. They're encased in dark green ridged plastic for grip and the build quality seems fine to me. In 2022, $95 is almost disposable, so if they're stolen or I drop them into a swamp I'll grimace and buy a new pair.

Image quality is excellent -- bright with a sharp circle if you use the twist-out eye cups. As I age I'm getting more far-sighted, so I don't use eyeglasses at typical small bird observing distances, The documentation says to keep the eye cups close to the ocular lenses if you do use eyeglasses.

Field of view is given at 6.7 degrees or 352/feet at 1000 years. They are noticeably wider-field than an old Nikon 8x25 Travelite which says 5.6 degrees (and much easier to adjust) and comparable to my 10x42 Promaster unit that is imprinted 330 feet at 1000 yards.

Durability: I've had them less than a day, so no problems. Most of the negative comments I've seen are about units that arrived broken or otherwise defective, or which had the strap attachments break off quickly. Use your Amazon replacement privileges for that. Vortex claims a lifetime warranty if you don't lose or intentionally damage it, and this appears to be true without hassle in some discussions of their spotting scopes. My unit is lightweight intentionally but solid. I'll update my review if something bad happens, but at the moment I'm delighted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Optics seem good but package was smashed

Optics seem good but the binoculars were broken in half upon arrival. The plastic could be a little more heavy duty but they are light in weight overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value!!

I'm honestly surprised that more people don't consider a reverse porro prism design when choosing small binoculars. With small roof prism binoculars, you need phase corrective coatings and good reflective prism coatings in order to have even a semi decent optic. This means that you either get dirt cheap, low quality pieces, or expensive, decent quality options. Some of these binoculars cost more than decent full size binoculars! Porro prisms, on the other hand, don't need any of those coatings, and as such can create pretty decent images for a much lower price! The durability issues with larger porro binoculars don't really apply on these smaller binoculars, so the advantages outweigh the disadvantages even more.

These are great, it's that simple. The body feels solid, the eye cups move with solid firm clicks, the build quality is standard Vortex quality. The picture is clear and sharp, and colour reproduction is not at all bad. I'm sure someone who uses optics all the time will pick these apart, and they certainly aren't as good as my GPO Passion ED's, but they are 7x cheaper. I wouldn't say the image quality is 7x worse, which in itself is a reason to buy these!

I bought these as a gift for someone who wanted decent optics from a robust optic that was small enough to be stashed away in a little running pack. I can say it fills those requirements well, and at less than NZD$200, its the best option by a long shot!

Have 3 other pairs of binoculars, rarely take them with me, too bulky to be carried here and there.
These literally fit in my pocket, no hassle or decision on whether to take these along!
Impressively GOOD viewing images given the compact size.
Secured the eye lens cover to the side carry strap loop with 3" a of shoelace, won't be losing it...
Very happy with my purchase!

I have a thousand dollar pair of binoculars from the same company because I bird a lot - Vortex is a great brand. These compare very favorably to the 10x more expensive counterpart for the money. Slightly less sharp and less light, but great for the price range! I've seen a lot of cheap binoculars over the years that were really useless or unwieldy. But these are actually usable for birding or wildlife watching and are so small and lightweight they are easy to throw in a glove box in your car or in a backpack or on your windowsill. They also have great eye relief for eyeglass wearers. I bought these for my parents because the pair they use to watch birds in their backyard is annoyingly bad but I may have to buy a second pair for myself.
