Extremely well built lens, all metal construction, excellent sharpness and superb light gathering abilty. Beautiful bokeh and renders colors very well. Also very quick focusing. Really no discernible weaknesses. Also love the 27mm field of view which is equivalent to 40mm due to the crop factor of the aps-c sensor. Just a fantastic lens. Truly pro quality at an affordable price.

It is tack sharp with beautiful bokeh.
Extremely fast autofocus (after the latest firmware update) and accurate eye af.
All in all, this has become my go to portrait lens.

I did a portrait session at a Tulip Farm, and this lens performed perfectly for the situation.
Optically, the lens feels close to perfection. My one complaint would be the auto focus motor isn't as snappy as I'd like. Fix that, and I'd gladly pay more. Without the fix, this lens is still a bargain. I'd recommend this to my friends. If you're fine with the extra reach, I think this lens performs better than Fuji's 56mm f1.2 (another optically great lens).
