I recently found out about these mini microscopes and wanted to try one out for inspecting coins and just things around the house. It takes me back to my college days and using the microscope in biology. It is amazing the clarity and details that this microscope provides being so small and portable! I was really impressed. The app is easy to use and you can connect it to your phone or PC. I used it with my Android phone and you can record video or take pictures as well as other features. You can change the resolution up to 1920x1080. The microscope has a zoom feature as well as a light on it that is adjustable. Be sure to take off the lens cap before first use. It recharges via Type C USB but had plenty of battery out of the box. It comes with a charging stand and an inspection stand.

I bought this on a lark since I developed a professional digital microscope that cost considerably more.
I was pleasantly surprised at it. it is well made, well thought out and the app installed first time. Worked flawlessly on my PC and android phone. Zoom is acceptable for looking at PCBs, light control is good, focus a little touchy but to be expected with these small lenses.
This would make a great learning tool for kids.

The quirks are manageable (stiff focus wheel, camera moves side to side when you focus in and out causing you to have to readjust to center the target)

You'll see other options that claim 4k, but connectivity is terrible on those. Because this one actually works it gets 2 more stars.

BUT, the focus wheel started to catch after 5 days so I'm guessing it'll just get worse. Which is why I'm returning it.

I liked seeing things in a different perspective. Very cool seeing things up close like that. Eye opening even.

Low quality parts probably won't last long. When you zoom in and out the camera shifts so you have to move again to find the target. The zoom wheel is stiff so it takes some getting used to. If you have hand issues this is not the product for you. The stand is useless. I know the pictures make it seem like it would be helpful, but it isnt at all. The focus wheel is very stiff, and you always have to use it to. That being said, the stand being so low quality and easy to move means you can't find the target after you lost it and by the time you do you have to refocus, and the cycle goes on.

Connectivity worked well.
The camera itself is great.
The leds are great.
When the focus wheel works, the focus is great.

I wasn't too bothered about the quirks with zooming in and out. Every item has its quirks. My decision to return it was the zoom wheel catching. It didn't catch initially which leads me to believe it'll get worse. The wheel catching was on day 5. It may seem like not a big deal to some, but the focus really makes or breaks a microscope.

I have ordered the newest model of this, so we'll see how that one does.

Update: ended up not returning it, still haven't tried the updated model. Dust is thr enemy of this thing. Once it gets in the lense it doesn't come out because of the design. I got some calcium chloride dust in there because I'm an idiot, tried to clean the lense to no avail. Took the whole thing apart and the lense is glued in a way you can't get to it.
Anyway, its still functional, just some annoying dots on the screen.

This product came very quickly for a father's day gift. My dad had it opened and set up within 5 minutes! Very simple to set up and works great for what he was looking at!

I'm reviewing this with respect to the price, and for the price it's really quite a nice microscope. Don't think for a second it will approach 1000x, and I deducted a star for the blatant lie. I don't know what the magnification is, but I'd guess around 40x, which is what I expected when I bought it for my son.

I also deducted a star for the WiFi setup. The microscope is an access point, and you need to connect your phone to its WiFi, so you lose access to the Internet. When you're done, you switch back. I just dedicated an old phone to it to avoid switching.

The picture quality and ease of use are quite good. If you need to look at bugs, tiny solder joints, or a splinter, it works fine. I prefer a loupe like the Kingscope LED Illuminated Loupe as it's easier, but it won't take photos. If you want to see diatoms and amoebas in pond water or cheek cells, it won't work.
