24Jan2021 — I’ve worn this robe a lot this past winter and am glad to have had it. It is quite warm and this particular winter has been colder than most. Definitely, props to the manufacturer! Despite its hard use, the robe still looks great, is still warm, and wonderful miracle, when comparing to other robes I’ve had, it still hasn’t shed one little bit. No little black-plush dust bunnies to vacuum up, no pilling on the fabric or the edge trim. And it still looks great despite several washings on regular cycle with detergent and oxyclean. So, bottomline, I’m glad I bought this robe!
Original Post — LOL, got to say, not sure what’s up about the nominal sizing on this robe. I ordered a small, the package label says small, but the inside-neck label says “L”. Did I receive a “Large” or a “Ladies” robe?
Well, that doesn’t much matter because the robe fits fine. And in every other way, appears to be well designed. The fabric apportioned to the robe is not stingy. I’m 5’3” 112 lb and my small “L” robe wraps nicely across the front, so on cold winter morning, it won’t be flapping open as I walk, letting drafts frost my shins. Shoulders fit perfect. Length (5” above the floor) is perfect. The belt loops are set on either side seam so belt sets at or just above waist level. The shawl collar and top front flap are generously cut, but not too bulky. Overall the robe seems scaled to fit a smaller person, yet comfortably allows said small person to wear heavier winter gowns and PJs underneath it.
One sizing aspect that might bother some. The arms are a tiny bit long (for me) but that’s a good thing when it’s cold. And the double cuff finish allows one to roll cuffs back once without exposing the backside of the fabric.
Now, about the fabric, my black robe has an incredibly, even, thick plush with a soft sheen. The other night I washed in regular fabric detergent and non-chlorine bleach, on regular cycle, and it shed not one fiber of the plush into the washer’s basket. The spin cycle appears to have pretty much wrung out all excess water (that doesn’t happen with a lot of thick, modern fabrics), which means the robe is a very easy keeper. I left it to dry on a hanger in the shower over night and popped it on the morning.
Only one aspect of the robe is not quite to my liking and maybe I’ll change my mind with time. The piping finish on the robe’s front and collar edges and top roll edge of sleeve, are in a matte, plain black fabric. I’d personally prefer a satin finish. But who knows, maybe the flat material will wear and look better longer.
Well, hope this information is helpful. I’m very glad I found this robe. Looks like it’s going to be much superior to my last robe which was a plush super shedder. LOL, all the dust kitties running around my house had a bit of the robe’s red lint in their paws.
