I ordered the set of three just to try it.
2 Small/1 medium.
To test, I took my standard 21" carry on and laid out 5 pairs of women's large full length leggings (not capris or shorts). First I tried the small cube. Fully expanded. All 5 rolled well and fit, but I couldn't compress. It would have ripped or the zipper would have broken. That's picture #3. Then I tried in the medium size. These fit fine and the compression zipper was able to close.
I'm not sure it save a lot of space but it definitely allows you to pack vertically and therefore probably will fit more in the bag.
