I just got my Uncle Sam hat for Halloween and then Election Night a week later. It's soft, light and comfortable and fits my big head perfectly. It also holds it shape well, even just out of the box. The colors are vivid, and it looks well made, the stars for example are fully sewn on and should not peel off.

Now if only it wasn't made in China...

I have a 7 5/8 head and it fit great... It stretches a fair amount, but definitely designed for a dude with a decent sized melon. Construction was fine and I think it will hold up well over time. It could be a little stiffer to help it stand up better when you move your head around a bit quick. I didn't have any problems with it falling over or off, but it was because I was conscious of turning my head a little slower and standing up a little straighter. I don't think anybody would notice you were moving a differently than normal, but I was conscious of it. 4/5 because it actually was a little better than I was expecting, but could be stiffer.

When the hat arrived, it was crumpled up in a plastic mail order bag. I tried to get it to stand up but it was hopeless. I took a coat hanger and made a circle for the top, and cut poster board to fit around the sides. Now it stands up and looks like a high dollar hat! The fabric is velvet and colors are really nice. It's a cool hat now!

When the hat arrived, it was crumpled up in a plastic mail order bag. I tried to get it to stand up but it was hopeless. I took a coat hanger and made a circle for the top, and cut poster board to fit around the sides. Now it stands up and looks like a high dollar hat! The fabric is velvet and colors are really nice. It's a cool hat now!

The hat came flat in a package. Had to pop it up and shape it a bit before it looked good enough to wear. Not a long time mind you but it had to be done. I would not describe the material as cheap but also not high end. Good enough for a few parties I would imagine.

I originally bought this hat a few years ago. I wanted another one but when I re-ordered it the new one was completely different. It was a cheap version that was small and poorly built. It was a thin felt hat, not the robust, large, colorful version that I received the first time I ordered. I am sending it back.
