5.0 out of 5 stars A high quality example of Greek coinage

The old Greek coinage has a lot of interesting designs. We've been talking about Greek mythology and history in my family recently, so I was excited to get these coins to show to my kids and compare them to our US coins.
The coins provided are circulated, but lightly so. They have some light scratches and nicks, but no loss of detail. Some of coins have some of their original shine remaining, others are more toned. I suppose I'd rate these about EF.
The packaging holds them securely in place so they don't rub against each other in shipping, but they overlap each other in the bag, so you have to open it if you want to see them. It would have been nice if they were laid out each in their own sealed compartment so you could see them but leave them protected. The sticker on the bag has the date range and lists the people shown, but it's not in order.
Those are very minor quibbles though - I was very happy with the quality of the coins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, fun, authentic set.

This is a great assortment of coins. My husband dabbles in coin collecting, as does my father, and grandfather. They all enjoy seeing what kinds of crazy coins they can pick up from other places. The farther away, the better. These are great for the collector who just enjoys collecting for the fun and history of it instead of just doing it to try to make money. A great starter set for a younger colle tor just starting out, as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars They’re alright
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024
It’s a package of coins from Greece alright. Considering they’re just repacking coins and then just exponentially marking up the value of them based on some arbitrary idea that coins from the 80s to present are “collectors” items; I don’t see the value.

I got these more for my kid as just an interesting way to introduce currency from another country. But there’s nothing classic about the 80s; give it at least another decade.

With all that said, some of these look like they were picked up off the stall floor in a toilet somewhere in Greece. I’m almost afraid to open the package and introduce whatever vector is sealed in there, into my home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice set of Greek coins

This is a good set of circulated coins. They're not in perfect condition, but you can still read all the words and numbers on the coins, and the pictures are recognizable. They're packaged well so that if you don't want them exposed to air you can leave them in the vacuum sealed package. I like the variety of the coins.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic, out of use, coins
Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2024
These coins were taken out of use when the Euro was adopted. The face value is pretty minimal compared to the price of the set. These are standard, circulated coins, but they were clean and well protected in their sealed pouch. You can leave them in the pouch or take them out if you want, although they may get more worn if taken out. All in all a good example of international coins but probably not the best value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories of my childhood
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2024
This collection of Greek drachma coins is a nice memory of my childhood spent in Greece. If the drachma was still in use today the set of 7 coins would only have a USD value of like $0.60 but the nostalgia value is there. The set with the lepta coins (fractions of a drachma) are really the nicest sets. As a child all of the lepta coins except the 50 lepta coin were out of circulation and the 50 lepta coin was what I would take daily to the village market to get chewing gum. All the coins are nicely sealed in a package which allows you to see them as a set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Large and small well-circulated coins of random dates between 1982 and 2000

In my picture, I used an American quarter for scale. About half of the coins are smaller and half are larger. These coins might work for a collector who is just looking for samples from different countries and not too concerned about the exact dates or amount of use the coin has seen. These would be a good teaching aid in a classroom, or a gift for a young coin collector, or for a scrapbooker to use as visual elements. These coins are interesting to look at and learn about. These could teach about a variety of things, including social studies, history, and metal composition.
