My 4yr old stepson loves it. Love that it has a thick but soft case, he did drop it once and everything was OK. Nothing happened to the tablet. He loves all the games, educational content and videos that are suited for his age.
The touch screen is very responsive, battery life is good but I do feel like it charges a bit slow.
It did come with a year free Amazon kids subscription and I love it.

This is a great tablet, it works really well for my 7 year old! I like that I can control a lot of what it can do, such as parental controls. It had a fast charger and stays charged for a couple days. It's also very durable. I really like this tablet.

Good for price

This is an updated review from a few weeks ago.
I’d say this tablet is pretty fast and is great for the price. It’s not as fast as a some other brands, but it’s also significantly cheaper. It started out very fast, but slowed quite a bit once my kid downloaded just a few simple games from the Amazon Kids app. I submitted a review that was 3 stars (initial review below), and Amazon customer service reached out to me within 1-2 days! They suggested I update it (it’s crazy that it needed an update already, since we had just got it), which did significantly speed up operations.
So, if you frequently update it and reset it (by holding down the power button until the unit shuts down) then it will operate reasonably fast when using the Amazon kids app, but will be very glitchy and slow if you don’t. After this latest update, I am even more convinced that the tablet itself is pretty good, but when using the Amazon app, it slows down. I have another Amazon tablet that’s a few years old and the Amazon kids app slows it down, as well, but hasn’t yet caused the freezing and other glitches that I have experienced with this tablet.
All in all - I’d buy this one again. Is it the perfect tablet and the one I’d prefer to have? No. But I’m not going to pay 3-7x the price for a faster brand (at least not for my kid) ;-).
***My initial review: It started incredibly fast, but it very quickly slowed down as soon as a few low data games, etc were downloaded. It is very glitchy and freezes frequently. It could be that it’s the Amazon Kids app and not the tablet itself, but my guess is it’s a mix of both being subpar. I bought it during prime day, so I’d say for that price it’s still worth it for a 5 -6 year old who isn’t super tech savvy. But for any older kid familiar with technology, this would probabe too slow. I don’t think I’d pay full price for it.

Easy to set up and provides controlled entertainment!

We ordered this iPad for an international trip, and it was such a lifesaver! Our two-year-old was entertained throughout the entire flight, and we could easily control what was available. You do need WiFi to set up and download, but it is incredibly user friendly. Our two year old has classic sticky fingers, so you do need to wipe down the screen every-so-often. If the screen gets too much stuff on it, the games won't work as well. I just take a wet wipe and with a few easy swipes, the screen is clean and fully operational. This size works well for younger children, I would recommend a larger screen size for children older than four.

This tablet is the perfect gift for our granddaughter, it comes with the protection case and that helps our granddaughter to carry it around without damaging it. We use the Amazon apps and she loves all the games and activities she can do on it. It walks you through setting up parental controls and safety measures. It’s an easy charger to use. We are happy with this purchase bc in the past other brands of tablets after 1 month start to have issues. Other friends of ours recommended this tablet and so far so good!! Our granddaughter loves it!
