Picked this up a year ago, and have been using it as a server.
Recently replaced the OS with ESXi and vSphere for my home lab, and it's great for that task.
Upgraded to 4-1.2 tb 10k SAS drives, and upgraded the RAM with an extra 64gb totalling 96GB. The total on the system is 8-16GB RAM sticks, so 128GB is the max.
This system has tons of USB 3.0 ports, but would like to add USB-C ports, so I am adding a card for that... which this case has plenty of space and slots for.
It has been sitting in a corner, on, since I set it up. It's quiet and just works. I like the HP Z series. But, just make sure you are getting the best XEON processor you can get... or need for your purposes, and pick the one that has the best specs. This one has 8 hyperthreaded cores, looking like 16 CPUs to vSphere. That is an excellent amount of CPUs for virtualization.
For the money, a great deal.
