5.0 out of 5 stars Great factory support

I needed to digitize, and extensive amount of paperwork and a copier scanner is ill equipped for a home office. This product takes up little space and is a workhorse for scanning and filing documents. I was having installation issues and contacted the manufacturer who not only answered all of my issues but, gave me many tips to use the product more effectively. Excellent product if you have the need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast document scanner - easy to set up and use!

The media could not be loaded.
I scan contracts all day and needed a quick and easy scanner. This more than meets my needs! I choose it because of the size - I wanted something that doesn't take up a lot of space. The set up was so easy and with the toolbar option for my computer it gives me scanning capability at a seconds notice. I like that you can control it manually or via the computer. It scans very quickly and immediately saves the files to where I need them.

One feature I'm really excited about is that it does handle double sided scanning. Not many scanners out there can do this. This is probably the easiest scanner and the best quality I've seen in a long time. This is the best office purchase I have made all year.

If you are looking for a quick scanner that doesn't take up too much room and easily saves files to your computer - this is the scanner for you. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!

1.0 out of 5 stars Overall poor product

Purchased this to use in my office and I have regretted it ever since. The setup was a disaster. It took me two hours to set up the printer successfully. The headache did not stop there. Printing and scanning documents was a mess! Scanning took a while and when I tried to print, pages will constantly get stuck in the feed, causing a paper jam. I am very dissatisfied with the product and do not recommend it to anyone. Returning it.

5.0 out of 5 stars created free paperless scan software
Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2012
I purchased the Xerox DocuMate 3125 through amazon and received it two days later thanks to Prime. I was torn between the xerox and the fujitsu. To me it seemed the Fujitsu had better software but the Xerox had better hardware. I am very glad I picked the Xerox. For me I am doing simple filing so the one touch buttons were all I needed (1 for black and white searchable pdf's going to my cans in waiting folder and 2 color with same settings).

The only thing I found lacking was an easy utility to get my scans from their default "scans in waiting" folder to their respect folders in my virtual filing cabinet. So I wrote a program to do it for me. It was written in Java so it will work with mac or windows. It is free and you can download it here where I go over my going paperless experience:
stupid amazon won't let me post hyperlink so I will spell it out...
L337Tech dot com forward slash apps

The program renames the file, adding a date and timestamp, then places the file in its appropriate folder. With the combination of the Xerox DocuMate 3125 and my program Quick Jobs, I can file stuff way quicker than I could manually using a manual filing cabinet. And the best part is that all my documents are now "searchable" using adobe's file indexer installed on windows 7. So if I need something I just use the search bar in my virtual filing cabinet. awesome.

4.0 out of 5 stars Antique software is frustrating
Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2023
    Good:
    - Scanner hardware is physically smaller than similar products
    - Scanning speed is fast once the software initializes. It's faster overall to scan a bunch of pages than a single page.
    - Cheap
    - Many configurations are possible to allow you to quickly switch between scanning a document, scanning a photo, etc.

    Bad:
    - The included software is right out of the 1980's and is frustrating to configure and use.
-- It will only allow storing files where you chose under some configurations. Most of the time, it stores files under C:\Users\[name]\documents\[one of many folders and subfolders it creates].
-- Hard coded obsolete options (e.g. Open in Internet Explorer, Burn to CD-ROM, Fax)
-- Options are overly complicated to configure and sometimes the configurations aren't followed (e.g. configuring to store photo scans in a root directory causes the software to put it in sub directories it creates).
    - Too many steps to prep scanner from its folded position (1 flip up top, 2 flip down output tray, 3) flip down output tray extension, 4) flip open left document feed guide, 5) flip open right document feed guide, 6 turn on machine. Repeat in reverse order to close scanner). Other scanners can do all of the above in a couple of steps.
    - Fold lines or wrinkles in the paper show in the scanned image to a much greater degree than I have experienced with other scanners. I have all automatic image correction settings on.
    - Document feeder is more particular about paper placement than other scanners I have used.

I prefer to scan everything to my selected directory using a system generated name, automatically launch my default PDF editing app to review/edit the file, then use my app to rename the file to something appropriate. This simple scenario is not possible with the Xerox software.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works ok but some issues.
Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2019
Like every scanner I have used in the past it usually shows a" problem scanning" at my first attempt to scan but then works fine. Other scanners usually took several attempts for the scan to scan correctly. I have some problems with 10 or more pages scanning. I am not sure if its because of the weight of the paper or the scanner. I have had to scan 5 pages or less on multipage documents.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Difficult to download software and activate
Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2023
The scanner itself looks very nice, and it's fast. But downloading and installing the software is very, very difficult. I'm good with computers, but I've still had a very hard time. The system uses a PDF reader called "Abby Reader" and it's designed for commercial applications. Very hard to install and activate. I still can't figure out how to set the path for scanned documents...something simple with other brands. If you like complicated puzzles, this is the one. But it is needlessly complicated to set up and use. For the average user, get a simpler scanner.
