Whether you’re running a small business or just have way too many smart gadgets at home, this switch is ready to handle it all. And the best part? It’s fanless and built like a brick, so you won’t even hear it working—just pure, silent power. ????⚡

Why this switch is a total powerhouse:

16 ports of glory: Seriously, 16 gigabit ports. If you’ve ever run out of ports and had to unplug something just to connect a new device, this thing is a dream. Plug in your gaming console, your smart TV, your printer, and still have room for more. ????️????
Sturdy metal build: This isn’t some flimsy plastic gadget. The metal casing on this switch screams durability, and you can feel confident that it’s going to last through all your networking needs. Plus, you can mount it on the wall or have it sitting on your desk—flexibility at its finest.
Fanless operation: No annoying humming or buzzing to deal with. It’s completely silent, so you can tuck it away anywhere without adding to your home or office noise. It quietly does its job, which is exactly what you want from a switch. ????
With gigabit speeds, you won’t have to worry about bottlenecking your internet, even with multiple devices streaming, downloading, or gaming at the same time. It’s perfect for both work-from-home setups and tech-heavy households.

Bottom line: This TP-Link 16 Port Gigabit Switch is the strong, silent type that gets the job done without breaking a sweat. 5.0 out of 5 stars This switch uses the IEEE 1905.1 standard protocol - necessary for Deco router ethernet backhaul!
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2024
I originally purchased a TrendNET 2.5Gbps 8-port ethernet switch to complement my TP-LINK 2x BE63 mesh routers. I wanted to fully utilize the 2.5Gbps ethernet backhaul capability of the new routers, so I needed to upgrade my existing 8-port Luxul Gigabit (1Gbps) switch.

It turns out that TP-LINK uses IEEE 1905.1 standard for ethernet backhaul on its Deco line of routers, which the TRENDNet switch did not support. Ultimately, I had to replace the TrendNET switch and purchase this TP-LINK 8-port 2.5Gbps switch for my home network. Everything works perfectly with the TP-LINK switch!

Installation was a breeze in my media cabinet, and I successfully plugged in the multiple ethernet lines that go throughout the house.

TLDR: If you have TP-Link Deco routers that you want to hardwire (ethernet backhaul) you will need an IEEE 1905.1 compatible switch, such as this TP-LINK TL-SG108-M2 switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over 1 year

    Works great.

It's great for an unmanaged/dumb switch. It's silent (no fan). I wouldn't use a fan-less switch for enterprise or long sustained work loads, but fine for home use. If you're hammering it, and it slows down, maybe point a 120mm fan at it?

I have this magnetized to the bottom of my desk. Been using it for about 14 months now with no issues. I use it to connect my VM server, NAS, workstation, and macbook pro for many use cases.

4 ports for local connection, and 1 port for uplink is just enough for a home office with a few high performance network devices.

Used in my control panel at home. Fast and reliable. Very affordable for home networking and has a thin profile for those tight control panels

5.0 out of 5 stars Works good, and a metal case
Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2023
Bought to replace an 8-port switch for my home's main network concentration point after outgrowing the old one. No need for a managed switch in my simple home environment, so this one does the job. What I like about this switch is the metal case (vs. plastic for many desktop switches) and holes for wall mounting. It has been in place for a couple of years now and has had zero issues. Of course, home only has about three dozen devices so the switch isn't being pushed too hard. Many of those devices are connecting via WiFi mesh pods (half a dozen hung off the switch) and three sub-switches in rooms that have multiple hard-wired devices.

The only issue I've ever had is a packet storm from a malfunctioning device. The switch has no way to detect and block this type of event so one device flooding its connection can shutdown the entire network. Most likely, no unmanaged switch will handle this type of event though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Unique Switch
Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2024
I purchased this switch because I wanted a multi-gigbit device for my home network. The switch works great as advertised. I have the 5 port switch without the fan and the only thing that bothers me is the unit gets very hot. I was concerned it would burn he finish on my desk. I put a small usb box fan blowing on one side and now it runs nice and cool. Since there are very few vents i'm assuming they are using the case as a heat sink. I'm not sure why it's generating so much heat and I now understand why the 8 port version has a fan. This one should have one as well. Good thing TP-Link stands behind their product.
