It works... poorly... usually

I'm using this with a good-quality USB extension cable with a desktop PC for file transfers back and forth to my phone. This is a fairly high-end Win10 Pro PC, recently freshly installed. No built-in Bluetooth support at all.

There's about a 50/50 chance that it'll connect on any given attempt. Connecting is very, very slow -- up to a minute or so. If it does manage to connect, file transfers are extremely slow. I move a lot of Android APK files to the phone and log files back to the PC. A 70MB APK just took 4 minutes to transfer. I can send the same file from my Dell XPS13 laptop to the phone via Bluetooth in just a few seconds, and the connection is almost instantaneous.

Like every other Bluetooth dongle, for some reason these can't handle RF interference that laptops and cellphones seem capable of completely ignoring. There is nothing unusual about the RF environment here. Some WiFi devices, a cell phone, a wireless mouse. In fact, I rely on WiFi to the point that my desktop PC uses a WiFi dongle instead of being hard-wired to the router.

Thanks to the USB exension cord, the phone and the dongle are only about four inches apart, and of course, the RF interference in the area is exactly the same that affects the laptop when I'm using that instead. I can't connect at all at a distance of about three or four feet -- whereas the phone and laptop can connect over relatively huge distances (15 or 20 feet). USB3 vs USB2 doesn't seem to make any difference. Front port vs rear port doesn't seem to make any difference.

It's so cheap I wouldn't bother with a return even if it failed completely, but I can't say I'm impressed.

Oh yeah, it also has a little status LED which you could't see on a normally-oriented USB port because it's on the *bottom* of the dongle.

Nov 2020 update: Throwing this in the trash. Several months after the review above was written, it mysteriously began working normally. Connections were instantaneous, file transfers were fast. Then about six months ago it stopped working. It connects but file transfers never work. I'd say there's a good chance this is actually a Win10 problem (MS in the era of low-priced contractor-devs has really lost their way) but considering the history of this thing, I'll gamble on another product.
