5.0 out of 5 stars Its a keeper so far
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2024
Wanted a firewall between me and the internet that wasn't managed by my internet provider. Also wanted one that I didn't have to have a cloud-based account to access and manage.

So far I am impressed as it seems to give you all the options you need to manage but not overwhelm with too many knobs that might require a person to be a network security specialist to understand.

I have been watching the security logs for a few weeks as somebody supposedly in Amsterdam seems determined to brute force my security DVR on my network. Made me rethink my home network security to see some of the determined hacking attempts going on.

    Pros to me:
Can manage from home network without creating cloud based account through the manufacture. It is there if you want.
Simple to use via app or web based, very decent GUI interface
Good amount of network metrics for knowing whats going on with the network.
Keeps itself updated to latest security releases if you want to allow, manually selectable otherwise.
Throughput seems to be respectable with no stability issues noticed with the unit through the first 2 months of use.

    Cons:
Only a insignificant one for most people in that I wish all ethernet ports were 2.5G instead of one 2.5g and the other 4 being standard 1G.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Gateway
Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2025
I set this Gateway up a few months ago and haven’t had to do a single thing to it since. Truly a set it and forget it product. The web interface is easy to navigate, the product works exceptionally well as well. Security so far seems great to me, but I’m also not a target. I would buy more Ubiquiti products after owning this Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway!

5.0 out of 5 stars So good it's almost unbelievable
Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2024
Now that I've had this router for a few weeks, I wish I would've switched to Ubiquiti years ago. It's hard to believe how good this router is. Let alone for the price it sells at. It has every setting you could possibly need for home networking and really just about everything for corporate use as well. It's extremely fast and responsive when making any changes to settings. My old Netgear router had to reboot every time I changed anything. This one doesn't have to reboot, it just updates goes along with what it was doing. I love that I can access the router remotely by default. But, you can turn that off if you don't want it. It's also easy to manage the Ubiquiti Wi-Fi access points that I have connected. I like the little screen on the front that shows the current number of clients and traffic. As of the time I'm writing this, the router has been up for 29 days without any issues or slowing down of traffic. I had to reboot my old router at least once a week and it would still drop clients randomly. This has been rock solid since install.

Compact design with lots of power and features! Amazing speed for home office internet. Lots of functionality for a power user but also easy to use for non-tech person. price is a bit on a premium side, but is is worth it, just like Apple products.
Used Velcro to attached it to the plastic wall.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Isn't a POE switch/router
Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024
Its my fault as I thought this was a POE switch for my access points but it wasn't. :( Other than that this thing is a champ, I had my access points up and running with a few wifi networks and separate VLAN's in no time. The interface works great on both the phone and laptop, I really love these products. I actually liked the feature where you can add a second internet connection as a failover. There are two ports on the router specific for internet, the app lets you set things up if you want.

    Thanks,

    4.0 out of 5 stars It's UniFi
Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2024
I've never been a huge fan of the unifi routers they have historically always been security prone nightmares. When your in a pinch these are amazing for getting you up and running very quickly. They do the job just wouldn't use them for anything past a home or very small business. Anything past 15 employees it's time to start looking for a real enterprise setup not enterprise lite like Unifi.

As with all Unifi stuff it looks very pretty! One of if not the best web interface of any ecosystem in current IT landscape. It's simple to use has a few nerd nobs not enough to scare a new person away but not enough to keep most IT people for long.

    Pros
    //
    Cheap
Can do the 1Gb IPS it says "give or take a few mb"
    Pretty GUI
Took them a few years to stop responding to SSH and ICMP on the WAN interface but it's fixed now.
Did not require that stupid web account! Can run local hell yeah that's how it should be. Use the remote stuff if you wish.
    \\

    Cons
    //
Running a container on the edge.
Horrible firewall rule set configuration talk about confusing.
    Permissive rules by default!
If your controller dies "this devices" you loss 100% of control over your network. Ok for home not for business.
    \\

Overall it's actually not a bad unit wish it had 2.5Gb nics on all ports but that's the next version up which I will move to to when a decent 16 port 2.5Gb PoE VLAN capable switch exist that doesn't kill the wallet. A few do exist but are well above the reasonable price for home use devices. Would love to see UniFi come out with an updated version of the 16 port lite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and great UI
Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2024
I got this as a complete overhall of my current network. I got this and poe router and wifi access point purchase, best decision I have made to do with my network. The UI is clean and easy to understand all the products are updated automaticaly, it gives icons to each device so I know what they are aslong as they aren't some cheap no name product from china. Recommend if you don't wanna deal with doing it all yourself. I set one up in my parents place and at home and can manage both from the website.
