I wanted to purchase a quality backpack for my teen that would last a long time.

I grew up in the 90’s and JansPort Backpacks were the go to. I don't like the fake fabric used for today’s backpacks so I went on the hunt for that “forever” bag.

I came across this bag and it seemed to be what I was looking for.

When I received the bag the appearance is just what I remembered. The minimalist bag has pockets and the fabric is durable!

My son can be as rough as he wants with this bag and it will last!

I am so happy with this purchase. Reminds me of my 90’s childhood.

Great quality, exactly like the backpacks this brand produced when I was a teen, and my teen loves it! It has withstood him throwing it around and normal teen wear perfectly.

I had a Jansport superbreak, it lasted 10 years of brutal school and travel use before the zippers started acting up. Obviously with durability like that I chose to buy another Jansport, and I settled on this because it solved a few gripes I had with my old one.

Upon receiving it I noted that the stitching around the handle and straps at the top were looser, even more than on my well used bag. But I'm not a seamstress so I didn't think it would affect the function. Boy was I wrong!

The left strap started to tear away from the top of the bag after a month. My old bag had held up to this for 10 years, this new one couldn't even make it 10 weeks. It got so bad that I brought my old faded super break back into use. I sent (at my expense) the still new backpack to Jansport to see if they'd fix it. If they make it right I'll bring it up to a 4 star because I like the bag otherwise.

Update:
They fixed it. They repaired the strap and and shored up some of the stitching. I don't think I'll have this problem again.

Some backpacks have too many hidden pockets and zippers, This is just the basics - one large storage area and a smaller one with rain flap. Very sturdy nylon and thick leather bottom. Comfortable to wear.

We had to buy another backpack mid-school year as my daughter has to carry around a laptop since stupid COVID hit and now our schools decided against lockers for all eternity. This bag is big enough for the laptop and make up bag, and athletic clothes and lunch box! WIN!

Update: I have had this backpack for about 1 month and one of the leather straps on the zippers has broken. I wondered about how those would hold up and my suspicion was correct. I don't think I am going to send it back. I'll probably just replace it with some parachute cord. I bought this backpack as a replacement for my 23 year old Jansport!! The old one finally broke down along the bottom seam. So far I am pleased with the new version. The large compartment is a little smaller due to the laptop pouch but I don't have any trouble carrying what I need for work each day. I'll see how it goes next year as my backpack was always my "personal item" on airplanes. I used to be able to cram a lot in the backpack to save space in my carry-on suitcase. Hopefully the new one will work just as well!!

The material is sturdy. I bought this bag for my son to take to school and it has held up so far. The zippers are still intact and the material doesn't look worn. The interior lining is white, I would have preferred a dark material for the lining on the inside. However, I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it.
