1.0 out of 5 stars Dead after about 30 minutes

I replaced an older 24 port switch with this new TL-SG116E switch. Had it all set up and connected and all looked great. But when I was done I decided to move the power brick from one spot on the power strip to another spot. The switch never came back up. Tried everything but all I got was a green power light. I'm returning it the next day after receiving it for another one. Hopefully I just got a bad one and the next one will work great. I'll give an update on the second unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely took down our Network Infrastructure - DO NOT BUY!!!

Not even 2 months having this TP Link 48 Port Unmanaged Switched and completely took down my network infrastructure causing an outtage of over 8 hours on a busy work day! An unmanaged switch is just supposed to work but apparently it's a ticking time bomb before it takes down your network making you scramble to find consultants, talk to employees over the phone, or have you drop everything to come to the office and troubleshoot a piece of crapware. Just to be sure, I took it out of the network to run tests and it would just freeze or not even auto negotiate traffic. So words of wisdom, cheap doesnt always mean good and i wish i could return the TP Switch but it so happens i'm 7 days past the return window!!! It's like my switch knew to die right after the return window passed... DO NOT BUY!

This device had been working perfectly fine for the past six months or so when I started using it. It has been in an well ventilated area, never heats up and only have three cables plugged into it. Been using it as a regular switch with one port that is configured as a mirror port which I haven't used in few months.

Out of nowhere, the switch has been consistently dropping connections every hour. Resetting the switch back to factory settings (which they already were) didn't solve the issue so it must be faulty internal circuitry. Unfortunately I can't return it since it's too late so I have to knock it to one star. A device that carries a high price tag should work longer then six months. I went back to my $8 D-Link switch which has worked for years. I'll just invest in a tap instead of a managed switch for the port mirroring capabilities.

I got this for a customer to replace an older 24-port switch with failing ports. It installed easily, and all ports worked at gigabit speeds. Great price and quick delivery.

1.0 out of 5 stars simple and works great

I got one DOA but the replacement is working fine.

I like the metal construction, but I wish the power connector was on the same side as the Ethernet ports. As it is there are cables on BOTH sides of it.

UPDATE 1. After a couple of days, the switch slowed down to about 100mbps for some reason. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and the speeds went back to normal. Disappointing. Perhaps I got a bad switch a second time?

UPDATE 2. Definitely it slows down to 100 mbps and it requires a reboot every couple of days or so.

UPDATE 3. Replaced the replacement, but the issue persists: it works fine for a little while, it could be a couple of hours or a couple of days, and then it slows down to 100mbps. So no idea what is going on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective by design

I bought a few of those, but same issues are on all. Not supporting IGMP, general slow down when multicast is streamed. Doesn't Abe to reach the gigabit at any scenario.
Avoid. It is a waste of your money.
I have reached the support for the igmp issue (which is in the spec) - the answer was "why do you need igmp?"

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped Working After 3 Months. Horrible Customer Service.
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021
Everything was working fine when I first received the switch. Thought everything was great and had no issues. However, 3 months came and suddenly the switch was not working with any of my devices. The activity lights were working fine, but the internet was no longer working with anything connected. I contacted support via TPLink's website and was met with horrid support. I spent almost 2 hours trying to troubleshoot and ended with communicating with their "seniors". I will update this when I get a response, but stay away from this product just from the support perspective. I will be looking at Netgear in the future.
