5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and simple unmanaged switch for home networks

I recently purchased my second NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS305) to add ports to my growing number of connected devices. While it may not have the bells and whistles of more advanced switches, it serves its purpose well as a basic networking solution.

The installation process was a breeze; I plugged in the power adapter and connected my devices using Ethernet cables. The switch immediately recognized the devices, and I experienced a noticeable improvement in network speeds versus WiFi connection speeds.

The compact design of the GS305 is a plus, taking up minimal space, aand its metal casing gives it a sturdy feel. The indicator lights on the front provide clear information about the status of each port.

While it lacks advanced management options, the simplicity of the GS305 is an advantage if you prefer a plug-and-play solution without dealing with complex configurations.

In conclusion, the NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS305) is a reliable and straightforward networking solution for users who seek a no-frills approach. While it may not boast advanced features, it serves its purpose well for those looking for a simple and effective way to expand their home or small office network.

5.0 out of 5 stars It just works for simple PnP

Finally fiber-optic installed into my Maui neighborhood subdivision so we switched from the slow cable internet and then updated my home office from a 10/100 Netgear fast switch to a Netgear GS305E. However just needed simple new switch for Casita and just went with this GS305 as plug n' play since it only had a solar system gateway, desktop PC and Netgear Business WAX214PA Access Point connected with an extra port for a guest to plugin direct. Works as advertised, delivered new advertised internet speed same as the main house even though its at the end of a 250 ft. Cat5e cable run. Very inexpensive upgrade and no setup required. Have all Netgear equipment: Nighthawk 3-band router, wi-fi extenders, switches and access point. Just believe in their equipment as it has served me well even in many office buildings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good simple switch for simple networks

I have bought multiple of these so far and they work perfect for just hard wiring your electronic devices around your house. With some cat6 cable they have good data transmission too. Simple to setup, you just plug and play, though I have noticed if you reboot your router sometimes you have to unplug and plug the switch back in in order to re-establish connection. They are compact and can fit in a lot of areas. They don’t have any ui or management screen because they are unmanaged so don’t expect much on customization. But if you just need a simple switch to allow you to have multiple hard wired Ethernet devices these work just fine for that.

TLDR: Affordable, easy-to-set-up NetGear switch, ideal for enhancing home network speed. ????????????

In the world of essential home networking, I recently got my hands on this NetGear switch. Let's just say, it's the epitome of what a commodity appliance should be: straightforward, cost-effective, and gets the job done.

The deal on Amazon was the cherry on top, making it even more wallet-friendly. And talk about convenience – same-day delivery had me feeling like I'd hit the express lane of tech shopping.

Setting it up was a walk in the park. Just find an electrical outlet, plug the switch in, and then connect an Ethernet cable from the data port to the switch. Voila! You've got four extra ports at your disposal. It's like giving your home network a shot of adrenaline.

In terms of performance, wired connections are in a league of their own, leaving Wi-Fi in the dust. Now, both my laptop and desktop are enjoying the fast lane of internet speeds. The whole setup process was a two-minute affair – the most time-consuming part was just making some room on my desk.

The build quality is reassuring – sturdy and compact, it's like NetGear knows we don't need another bulky gadget hogging space.

In short, if you're looking to boost your home network without any fuss or breaking the bank, this NetGear switch is a no-brainer. It's a small investment for a significant upgrade in speed and connectivity.
