【Repeater for Public, Hotel WiFi】Convert a public network(wired/wireless) to a private network(wired/wireless) for secure surfing. Work with Captive Portal. 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing travel router. Easy to use and works great.

This is pretty much exactly like the review say. Watched the many reviews in the Beryl AX to find out pretty much everything about the software in this model. The main differences are in the capabilities of the processor. This version reportedly can achieve much higher speeds via VPN (such as WireGuard). I have yet to be able to fully test this.
It was very easy to setup and get working. I was able to tether my iPhone with zero hassles. True plug and play.
Need to test Ethernet WAN and WiFi repeating but since the reviewers often test that on the Beryl version. I have no doubts it will work.
Looking forward to using this in the wild.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing router/repeater.

High tech sophisticated little gizmo. It works so well as repeater as well as router. Being so little it covers great distance both, as repeater and router. Easy to setup, good interface. Don't need to be wizard to get this going. It is so small but works so great. I highly recommend this little tinny router.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked for a simple offline web server
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2023
I had bought an older version of this from this manufacturer a long time ago and really liked the simple software built on top of a long time good open source routing software and had a new use case for an offline static website that I wanted to power off batteries. I tried using a raspberry pi zero but it was not performant enough for the JS heavy application so I tried to use a newq file hub but it’s web server kept crashing under rather light and seemingly random reasons. I also tried using an old android phone but that didn’t support exfat external drives so that idea was also out. I got to thinking that a router with decent software and the right ports would work perfectly. I remembered this brand from a previous purchase and saw the hardware specs and thought it would be plenty to host a simple static website off of a usb drive and sure enough it does this extremely well. Now openwrt which is the underlying software has plugins to run a full fledged web server off of it but I figured I would try to just use the http method already built in that is provided from the network storage WebDAV protocol. This worked perfectly and is far more performant than any other solution I tried. With my battery pack showing it can run it for 15 hours I think this solution will work perfectly for my intended use case.

The router is quite simple and about the footprint of my iPhone just a little larger and thicker of course.

The tf card easily supported my 1tb card in exfat and the usb 3.0 port on the back also works much the same way with an adapter.

It includes a power bring but any usb c charger should be able to supply it enough power. It’s about 20 watts or so.

There is a small fan inside but I never heard it.

The repeater function does not appear to work with eero routers after a firmware update so unsure what happened there.

Overall though easy to use and very versatile thanks to its very open source software also performance seems great for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars A surprisingly capable and speedy unit...with a subpar config UI
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2024
I actually really truly like the pocket wi-fi. It's good enough to give coverage to my 1200 sf apartment. It's speedy and really does deliver Wi-Fi 6 speeds. I just wish the browser-based config UI was a little more thought out. There are great features hidden away in the config that are hard to find and figure out because of the UI. Once you figure it out, the unit is great. But unless you're an IT person like me, the UI might drive you crazy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well as a home router
Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2024
This router is very simple to setup yet, for those so inclined, has some very nice features like ad blocking, excellent VPN support, TOR support and the ability to add in a micro SD card for shared storage over SMB. The toggle switch on the side can be easily configured to turn VPN and TOR access on or off quickly. Also the firmware is built on OpenWRT meaning there's hundreds of optional packages that can extend this router in ways most routers can't be extended. Yes, it's an excellent travel router but it also works very well as one's main router at home. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not only good for traveling, this little device is powerful and solid!
Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2024
This is not only good for traveling, it's also amazing for providing a small local network. We have been using it for over a month now. It's so powerful, and the performance is solid. Overall, we are very happy with device and highly recommend it, especially for those who have a T-Mobile business cell phone plan, which usually offers an extra line for free. Since we have an extra line and extra cell phones, and T-Mobile offers 200GB premium HS data, this little device connects to our existing switch effortlessly. We were worried about the cell phone battery draining, but since we dedicate this cell phone line for our networking, the cell phone connects to this device all the time, so the phone battery has not been an issue at all. We are pleasantly surprised that this device delivers a steady T-Mobile 5G HS speed, and the WiFi signal reaches farther, which is much better than what we have with AT&T fiber internet. So we canceled our AT&T Fiber internet subscription. The only thing is the device is kind of hot while running, but we got this $13 super quiet fan from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G05A2MU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details, which really cools it down :-)
