5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good!

After reading reviews about this scanner (ScanSnap iX1600 Wireless) I pulled the trigger - it came and after a short setup (including a pretty large app download, 1.4G) I am very pleased with it.

I'm scanning photos and some documents - This ScanSnap iX1600 is doing great. It's quick - open the top and it's ready to go under a minute. Clear user interface on the scanner, and paper handling is very good. I have everything from 2x3 up to almost full page photos, and even when they're all in a stack they scan correctly.

One of the best features is duplex scanning - you can scan the front and back of a page at the same time! Easy to set up as default, and also easy to choose it on the fly if you've got no-duplex as the default. Scanning time is very quick too - with options for auto-correct for red-eye, and color enhance.

The thing that impresses me the most is that it does what its supposed to do and does it quickly, easily, quietly and without any tech headache or extended setup.

I'm using this with a new PC-based computer with Win11, AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 32G RAM. It also worked fine with another PC with a N100 processor (slow) and 8G RAM. Very happy, I'd highly recommend this scanner for photos and docs. It won't scan slides or negatives but photos are great!

Wow it does everything described in the product listing. Easy setup. Sharp scans. Handles multiple sheets without a glitch. Solid build. Compact.
Have used the scanner for 2+ months, scanned about 2,500 documents. The scanner is fast and has never once had a jam or any other scanning problem. The software provided is very useful and complete for my small office needs. Great build quality. Easy to connect and has become an essential tool in the office. I am amazed at the ability to scan all types and sizes or documents without problems. I enjoy using the scanner just because it is so easy to use and provides superior output of documents. Very happy with my choice.
Really happy with this purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super easy to use, scans documents quickly

This scanner is efficient and quick when scanning documents. It rarely jams, even when scanning up to 20 documents at a time. It is easy to download the software and set up on the computer. I've only scanned documents (i.e. papers), but I bet it would work well with photos or other media.
I originally purchased this for work, but it is so efficient and useful, that I purchased another one to use at home.
The quality of the documents is clear and easy to read. You have multiple options on where to store the files. I've had it for over six month and I use it every day. I do close the lid when it's not in use to keep the dust out. The unit does alert you when the glass and interior are dirty.
I would highly recommend this scanner.

I researched a lot of scanners before I chose this one. I am happy I picked this one! I can use it from my desktop computer, laptop or my phone (I tend to use it mostly from my phone) It was easy to set up and super easy to scan and send to file or in email etc. It is very fast and a breeze to use. It doesn't take up to much room on my desk and I shut the lid when not using. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny

I needed to buy a scanner that could be independently operated by my aging parents. It needed to work correctly and flawlessly and require only pushing button. The task is the scanning of my father's life's work, carefully preserved in filing cabinets that take up too much space and cost too much to store. It will take months to do this. It means most of the work will need to be done independently by them. I researched scanners and watched reviews for months. I was pretty set on a Canon until I decided that the #1 scanner might be worth the extra coin. It was imperative that it be easy to use. In all fairness, I don't have the Canon to compare it to. I was able to set this scanner up in person and practice with my parents before leaving them alone with it. I was able to easily set it up to scan to OCR and a Pdf document simultaneously (one of the project requirements) it scans both sides at the same time but omits any blank pages. My favorite feature is it can name the file based on the title on the first page. Again, for our project, this was exactly what was needed. Naming files and saving them in the proper location was a challenge that needed to be avoided. I set up a few profiles and removed the ones that were not needed. For me, the software was intuitive and easy to use and for my parents, largely unnecessary to interact with once I'd set things up properly. I downloaded the ABBEY OCR software and was delightes with how perfectly it worked. Notes in the margins were preserved as a graphic object in Microsoft Word. The scan captured and changed the font size. There were several passages of books that had been xeroxed so it involved two pages side by side. The scanner handled this like a pro and everything remained formatted correctly. The wireless and USB connection both worked well, once it's set up its very plug and play. There were a couple of minor paper jams but they were also easy enough to clear. I am impressed by the warranty and live support, but we have not needed either yet. What surprised me most is my printer has a scanner at home and I never thought I needed anything else. I am now seriously considering getting one myself seeing how I could easily make all the paper in my house disappear. I can set up profiles for receipts, bills, reports, personal memorabilia and this scanner could send it to the folders of my choice, this is extenemely appealing to me. I have to add that the footprint of this scanner is minimal, not much bigger than a work boot when it's folded up. I spent an extra $100 to get this model, but if it means my parents don't have trouble using it, it is worth every single cent.
