5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, comfortable, and allow you to hear surrounding sounds while listening to music.

Shokz Open Run bone-conducting headphones are lightweight, comfortable, and secure, allowing users to hear surrounding sounds while listening to music. The Open Run Pro model offers improved sound quality with enhanced bass and higher volume.

I have several brands of ear buds all of which go into or cover my ears and headphones which cover and set on top of the ears. I was looking for something that did not go inside or cover my ears yet would give me a good sound and was a comfortable secure fit.

In my search for headphones, I began with the Open Run model. These headphones are lightweight, comfortable to wear all day, and fit securely. Unlike my previous ear buds, they remain in place without constant adjustment, and unlike my over-the-ear headphones, they do not cover my ears. Their small size makes them easy to pack or carry during trips or errands.

The bone-conducting sound design allows me to hear all surrounding sounds, such as traffic, TV, children, and people around me, while still listening to my music. This can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on my preferences.

While the Open Run model’s sound quality was acceptable, I desired more bass and higher sound volume if these were to become my preferred headphones. I was particularly impressed by the fit, quality, and other aspects of the Open Run model, so I returned it and ordered the Open Run Pro model.
The Open Run Pro model offers improved sound quality with enhanced bass and higher sound volume. Like the Open Run model, it fits well and is comfortable to wear for extended periods.

    Strategies for Mitigating Surrounding Sounds:
In previous iterations of the Open Run Shozk, earplugs were included as a default accessory. While this may seem counterintuitive to the principles of open hearing and bone conduction technology, I have discovered that in situations where external sounds are undesirable, using earplugs with the Shozk headphones can be highly effective in providing a degree of sound isolation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing fit for smaller heads
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2024
I have to wear child size glasses because my head is so small, and my ears are so small that I have a hard time keeping any kind of earbud in my ear. But I also have a lot of piercings on my ears which made it difficult to wear over ear headphones. My husband suggested I try bone conduction headphones.

I had ordered a cheaper pair ($20ish) to try before I bought these, just to make sure they were going to work for what I needed before I spent a ton of money. I liked the sound quality of the first pair, but they were way too big for my head, the speakers didn't sit flush against my face, so I went in search of a smaller pair and found these.

These work so amazingly, and they're so comfortable I forget I even have them on. I wear them roughly 8 to 12 hours a day and the battery lasts a very long time. I don't really listen to music so I can't speak on that, but I have used it to watch movies and YouTube, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, etc and they have been great. Even while using a power sander, I put in ear plugs and these headphones and could still hear my audiobook over the sound of the sander.

Obviously they're not as travel friendly as a pair of airpods or Galaxy buds, but I took them on a trip over the weekend and had no trouble. They are a little difficult to wear when laying down but I was able to sleep in the car while wearing them. Also I love the texture of the finish on them.

They are so great that I really wish I had bought two pair when they were on sale for Black Friday, so I could have a pair for work, and a pair to listen to audiobooks when I go to bed. But I will say that after trying them, I would have paid full price for these and I may end up buying a second pair anyway. If you have a lot of trouble wearing other types of headphones, these just might be the solution.

Got these to use while I train for my half marathon and best decision I made. They are comfortable around the back of my head and sweat proof. They fit snuggly around your ears without irritating any of my ear piercings, this was a huge must have for me. I also love the sound quality, that’s what shocked me the most, I’m able to hear the audio at my preferred volume and stay safe by hearing my surroundings. Strongly recommend to all women, minors and any avid runners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best headphones to listen to while walking or running

I purchased an AfterShokz Titanium Open Ear Wireless Bone Conduction Headphone in 2019. After five yeas of use one of the arms of the speaker that touches my head broke completely making it unusable. I bought the new Shokz OpenRun and it's similar in many respects to the Titanium Open Ear. The functions are the same so getting used to the OpenRun is easy. The band that goes around the neck is thinner than the Titanium. I don't think this will be a problem in that the neck band appears to have more flexibility. The arms connecting to the speakers are also thin and in the long run they could break just like on the Titanium. I have a friend who also owns the Titanium and one of the ear piece arm is also broken. I like these headphone because it allow me to listen to music with out disturbing other as well as being able to hear everything around me.
Sound-wise, I have no problem with the sound on music or talking. Charging the OpenRun is easy charge with their short, magnetic USB charging cable, supplied) as opposed to the Titanium that used a USB with micro plug,
Pros: lightweight; easy controls; OpenRun voice (Audry) tells you when you're connected, power level, and when the unit is powering off.
Cons: I'd prefer the neckband to be thicker and the speaker arms to be a little thicker and less flexible.
I have earbuds I use as backup when I'm charging the Shockz but this OpenRun bone conduction style is my preferred choice.
