Very good trebles and and a decent bass. Solid highs and mids, lows can use some work. Compared to the XB10, this one is audibly clearer and neutral sounding. For some reason, it wasn't as loud at max volume compared to the XB10, but it was plenty. Good battery life, its type c, what more can I ask for? Worthy successor after several generations of mediocre lineups

Superior Sound and Perfect Pairing

These little speakers pack a surprising punch. They produce amazing sound quality, individually or paired as a set. The extra bass is real! Battery life is very good, lasting a full workday, but I just keep mine plugged into my work computer for "set and forget" convenience. Pairing a set was slightly confusing, but I figured it out after reading the instructions carefully. Once the set is paired together, they pair with a phone or tablet as one source, so you have high-quality immersive sound with every use. Once again, Sony has produced a superior product at an excellent value. I bought two, and so should you! Also makes a great gift for any audiophile!

The battery life is great, the size is also very nice and portable. The sound is also good but was a little disappointed by the amount of bass since it is hard to find a smaller blue tooth speaker with good bass. Overall happy with the purchase but could use more bass.

Little speaker that can

I have a couple of Bluetooth speakers. I was interested in a smaller speaker that could be charged via USB-C and had good sound. With the renewed pricing I decided to go for this Sony speaker. I am not disappointed given the size. It is not a powerhouse of any particular sonic quality, but it does sound good across some moderate bass, midrange, and highs. It charged quickly, and seems durable banging around in luggage and my back. Good value for the price.

The Little Speaker That Could

My previous portable speaker (vintage 2008) had arrived at death's door, so I got the Sony as a replacement. The sound quality is rich and impressive. I was surprised by how much bass comes through. It's a snap to use, and it seems like just the right size. It fills the living room, or my car, with whatever I'm listening to. So far, the battery life has been nothing short of amazing (coming off a 15-year-old predecessor, I shouldn't be surprised).

While the volume the Sony generates is perfect for my apartment, a space the size of a classroom is just beyond its abilities. Yes, my students can hear whatever song I play at circle time, but the sound is softer than I'd like in that setting; if the equipment lets me down at all, it's here. That said, there's a limit to what one can ask of a speaker smaller than a soda can.

On the whole, I consider this mighty mite to have been money well-spent.

I bought one of these on sale because it was too cheap to pass up. To my surprise, they seem to have ironed out the wireless connection grief so I was up and running almost imediately. I compared this little Sony to a more expensive Bose and the sound, or rather the limitations, were about the same. The Bose sounded slightly better because the dispersion of the higher mid and treble sound was helped by the speaker being horizontal. After all, I'm not sitting on the ceiling. So I tried turning the Sony on it's side and to my ear, It's much better. The bass is not affected as It's produced by the ports (holes) around the bottom.

As for the overall sound, voiume, etc. I doubt spending more will get you much more unless the speaker is much larger.

Update. I bought a second speaker because you're supposed to be able to run them in stereo. This is possible, but what a time wasting visit to wireless land. Since the speakers all have the same Bluetooth address, you have to get one to connect, then send the spilt signal to the the other speaker. If you're somewhat lucky, you will swap the sound from speaker A to speaker B, which is better than nothing. If things get really "user friendly" both speakers will get confused and disconnect. If you hit the lottery, you'll have both speakers working, each carrying one channel of the stereo. But be prepared to put some time into this process.
