5.0 out of 5 stars I love this damn thing!

Okay, this thing definitely exceeded my expectations, and I'm honestly kind of shocked by how much I actually love this thing. And one of the things I love about the kindle line as a whole is the battery life, and the scribe is no exception. I was messing around with sketching in the notebook for about an hour and a half
only lost about 6 percent. Very nice! I know writing is more taxing on the battery, so I know that reading will last even longer.

For me, the screen size is perfect (for both books and comics) in my opinion. While I love and still use my Paperwhite, there were some instances where I really wished I could have just a little bit more real estate. I know it's a small thing, but it's nice having an entire page fit on the page! It's also a lot snappier than my aging Paperwhite - turning pages is a remarkably quick by comparison!

Speaking of stupid conveniences, the feel of the pens/pencil/marker is so satisfying. I don't know how else to say it, but it makes writing more enjoyable somehow. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time typing lately, but going back to handwriting is very nostalgic and (for me, at least) gets my creativity flowing in a way that typing just can't.

And as an artist, it feels good to just sketch a little doodle in the corner, or add a starburst around your text to make it stand out more. I can put fancy little outlines on there as well, and add a bit of shading with the highlighter. I only wish it had the ability to set up layers (even one of them would help a ton!) or have different styles for each page in your notebook. (It'd be nice to alternate between a blank page and a sheet of looseleaf!)

Either way, this thing works like a dream and I'm enjoying it far more than I was expecting to, which is why I felt compelled to write this review and recommend it to anyone wanting to spice up their notes. It also works fantastic as a journal too, which has provided plenty of unexpected therapeutic benefits as well.

10/10 product, easy. Best of all, I got a refurbished model along with a used leather case - both showed up looking like they were brand new. Today was a good day!

But I use it more for notes than anything. It's an excellent piece of hardware, and I put a lot of thought between this, an Android tablet, or an iPad. At the end of the day, for my purposes, I went with the Kindle Scribe and have been excessively satisfied. It's much more function-oriented than an iPad or another tablet, and while it's only black-and-white, it has a fantastic battery life and performs all the duties I need it to. I've used it for reference material, I've imported inventory PDFs to take notes on, minutes for meetings, and of course reading regular books.

Outside of reading, I purchased the tablet to fill a void I had in easy, portable note-taking and it's done just that. Most of my coworkers utilize an iPad and iPen for this, but they always complain about it dying by the end of the day, and the glass-like texture of the screen was a huge turn-off for me. Writing on the Kindle Scribe feels like you're writing on a piece of paper on a clipboard, which is exactly what I was looking for. The ability to write on PDF files has served excessively useful as well to the numerous note templates they offer. With the updates they've made since release, the variety of pen tips and ability to move notes around, draw, and highlight things is just amazing!

Highly recommend this device to readers, office workers, and folks that like to take a quick sketch at the park when inspired. It's light, portable, and very long-lasting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the size
Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2024
I'm moving from a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2" paperwhite which as my eyesight was getting worse, from cataracts, was working well being able to change font (10), brightness and landscape layout. I still keep my books up to date on the little paper white as it is pretty slick to toss in my fannypack.

I love being able after my cataract surgery to go back to a more normal size font (4 or 5) and two columns on the page. I'm not having to turn the page every 30 seconds. The wonders of surgery.

The Kindle is good. The browser is okay, not great.

The notebook is handy. I've used it to take meeting minutes and it really worked well. The notebook feature is new to me. I'm learning. I've made several folders and have a couple notebooks setup.

I bought a refurbished unit with 2 gig and a pen. I've loaded hundreds of books, many from the local library loans, some from Prime Reads, some free from Amazon and goodreads.

I am disappointed that the user guide is not downloadable, evidently. It's a 78 page document it should be downloadable. I don't always have internet connection so cannot access when I need it.

Still waiting for Amazon to add cell phone data usability. It's in comprehensible to me that Amazon doesn't have that figured out for it's products, Fire, Kindle, and that I can't get a true Google gmail app.

The battery is holding a good charge. I read for hours at a time. It's been days since I charged and it's at 85%.

If you're looking for a new toy this is it.

Would have been 5 stars but for the obscure, non intuitive, and poorly written manual; how to navigate needs to be clarified. Otherwise pleasant and convenient to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best e ink device for reading and notes

Honestly! Nothing is better that the kindle scribe. I bought the boox air 3C and was very disappointed. The performance of the boox c3 was dismal compared to the scribe. The scribe is 1000% percent better. The boox air c3 boasts the android play store but none of the apps work well at all. I thought I could use the Microsoft note app with boox and it crashed and I couldn’t see menus on it etc. The scribe allows you to email your notes as pdfs and then u can edit in any other mobile app you have and then import back to scribe. Don’t waste your money in anything other than the kindle scribe. The scribe is 2000% better than remarkable 2 as well!
