I chose this model because I wanted the option to either go fully wireless, or mount it as needed and run on battery only.
The battery is large and holds a charge well. In a high traffic area that triggers the camera often, this may run the battery down quickly. At least, it runs for weeks on a full charge in high activity mode.
But even so, the battery comes out quickly and easily, just be very careful not to lose the screwdriver that comes with the camera!
This unit was remanufactured, I was cautious to trust it. But with high build quality, it’s worked perfectly for four months and counting!
I’m probably going to buy a second one for the back door next.
The option to hook it up to existing power wires was a HUGE help. Without this, I would have to disassemble the additional mounting case I bought first, then disassemble the camera to remove the battery to recharge.
With the low voltage wires from the original doorbell, no problem! The internal charger keeps the battery at 80-90 percent charged all the time. Never have to worry! The App also lets you check the current battery level, so you know for sure, easy to remain confident in the device.
Original doorbell was on the corner of the other wall near the door. With an additional mount, I can get full video coverage of the walkway. Even the stock angled mounting plate would have helped.
Wide camera angle makes it very useful, even in odd mounting positions. Good sensitivity to motion, and easily adjustable in the very good App.
You don’t need to pay for the video storage unless you really want to keep a record of potential activating events. Without the plan, you get live viewing and that’s about it. Sure, check the view when you want, get notifications when it triggers by movement or button push.
If you want a greater sense of/level of security, or you travel and cannot always check your phone when an activation alert is sent, then opt for the service plan.
