Took this on a fishing trip to Canada for a rented boat. Works well. Battery lasts about 8-10 hr. Good picture on my phone and accurate. Worked well with my IPhone 14. Easy to use

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little addition to kayak fishing
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2023
I mainly fish in a small river that's relatively shallow but has lots of downed trees. I use a Lifetime Tamarack Pro kayak that I didn't really want to outfit with a full blown fish finder so this castable unit seemed like a great alternative. I hook it to the side of my kayak while I float the river and it does a great job of giving me water depth, underwater vegetation/obstructions and locating fish. Because it's displayed on my phone, it's harder to decipher the size of the fish it is marking.. I also had to google videos to understand some of the setting as the owners manual tells you how to make adjustments but not why to make them.

Battery life for my unit has been as advertised, I find no problems with connecting to the unit via Bluetooth and have not lost connection (although I'm within city limits). For my needs this fits the bill perfectly and it's helped me learn the river more quickly.

With the Garmin, most all guesswork is accurate. Love it!

Used for two days total fishing from a float tube and worked great, easy to connect. Actually works better than expected. Battery life was excellent. Would buy again and recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Functions well when stationary
Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2023
I bought this to use while fishing from my kayak. It performs OK if I am stationary, but if I start paddling, it stops working. It seems that this is probably happening because the transducer periodically dives under the water and wobbles a lot when it is on top of the water and probably either loses Bluetooth connection with my phone, or fails to hear the echo returns from the bottom, because of the wobbling.

I bought the version without the embedded GPS because I figured all I needed was the GPS in my phone. But I was a bit disappointed after receiving it to learn that I could not create the Quickdraw contour maps without the embedded GPS.

Garmin should include a switchable on-button. This unit just turns on when the contacts are immersed in water. So I can’t really use it by sticking it down to the inside of my kayak with putty and shooting the sonar signal through the hull. That’s the way I mount the sonar transducer in my sailboat.

This is one of those, “how did I get along without it” items. If you know the theory behind fish this will absolutely change your game. The topographical mapping isn’t perfect but it’s enough to get you on the edges. It took about 45 minutes to charge from 3/5 bars (as read by the app), and went all day without making a dent in the battery. I’ve heard it really drains the phone battery, while I didn’t pay super close attention I didn’t notice an issue with that. This thing is tiny, palm of your hand tiny, plus it weighs very little so even a smaller rod can cast it easily. I used it to map about 400’ of shore line today, probably 120 feet off the bank and it took me about 10-15 minutes to do, taking my time. The temp sensor is very quick to read, and the image is clean, bearing in mind this isn’t your garmin 93sv, but instead a sub 200 dollar unit that is the size of a kiwi. It’s not going to replace the unit on your bass boat but this absolutely has potential to change the game for shore fisherman. Why are you still reading? Buy it already!!

I bought this because the iBobber I bought was defective. It works well and has good battery life. The first time we used the fish finder my wife hooked a lunker, but too bad we were not able to land it. I just hoped it would identify a big fish from small ones. Nevertheless, I like it because it saves me fishing time.
