Works great, just needs a little weight added. Also it works best in my experience if you use it while the boat is just adrift. It doesnt have a recording feature built in, but you can just take pictures etc of the screen.

3.0 out of 5 stars It works
Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024
This fishing camera is very subjective - your experience will differ greatly depending on what you intend to do with it. If you think it's like a small ROV, you will not like this device at all. It is just a waterproof camera on a cord, attached to a medium size HD screen. The concept is a great idea, but this particular product leaves a lot to be desired, although it technically works as advertised.

Pros: ability to record videos, pretty good picture quality, comes with a hard plastic case, seems to be fairly well made, is indeed waterproof, good battery (lasts a while), pretty easy to use (despite the poor instructions), and does have the ability to show you how your lure/bait looks underwater (to help you master techniques and see interested fish).

Cons: poor instructions, not very bright LED lights, price point is a bit high for how simple it is with almost no features, the camera is not well balanced & you can't control it, so it sinks looking down, the screen is not really bright so it's hard to see in the sun, no way to mount to a pole or your own floatie and is all manual/no controls

Overall, it's a good little device and technically works well for what it is but I am far from impressed.

Threw it in a lake where I know there’s big fish and what do you now. There’s the big fish.

Works great, sometimes the feed cuts off but that’s about it.

The first thing I tried after I received this camera was to try it out in a pan of water, not really a real test, but I just wanted to see how it works. Then I took it out fishing with me to give it a real test, and I was impressed with how well it worked for a budget fishing camera. It was a bright sunny day and I had no problem seeing the screen. The photos I took of the screen does not do justice to how well the image looked on the screen. There was a lot of wind and the water was really churning up the bottom of the lake, and I could still see the bottom well. I have used this unit quite a bit and the battery is still at full charge.
I slid the camera on the metal prongs and used the plastic tube to make the camera go down at a horizontal position, instead of it pointing down. The only problem I had was when I would stop lowering it, the camera would point down. I fixed this by running the cable up the slot on the camera and by taping the cord to the top of the unit with black electrical tape, as seen in the photo. This was a cheap and easy fix.
I like that this camera comes in a hard case, and is a compact unit, so it is easy to bring along for shore fishing, ice fishing, or to bring along in my boat. For an inexpensive fishing camera, I am happy with it. This unit will let me see structures on the lake that my sonar fish locator can't really tell me what I'm looking at. I am happy with this fishing camera and if you are looking for a camera that won't break the bank this FourQ Underwater Fishing Camera may be the camera for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fell apart when we tossed into a river to see what's in there.

Cheap, poor material, and it fell apart when we tossed into the water. The ball that levels it floated away. We retrieved it. Tried again from the boat. Dropped the camera down slowly and gently. The LCD screen glitches with lines, rainbow colors and if you wiggle the cord you may see a fish.

    Crap returned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has limitations

    Does it work? Yes
    Is it waterproof? yes
    Is it useful? Maybe

This camera does exactly as is stated in the literature, but does that equal satisfaction/meet expectations for a consumer? That depends on what your intended purpose is.
Firstly, the instructions are very basic. As an example, you have a choice of voltages to power the camera, but there is no actual spec for the camera. The design allows a user to balance the system so that it is horizontal while descending, but it is not explained. etc.

To address the horizontal decent problem. It is shipped unbalanced and front heavy. This will cause it to sink pointing down. The camera can be slid on the stainless steel rails. The further towards the end of the tines the more the camera will point upwards. It is shipped with the camera all the way to the loop which is basically pointing downwards. Then there is a black plastic tube that provides additional control. The net effect of all this is that you can keep the camera pointed horizontally during decent, but, and this is the catch, you can't stop it mid water and hold it horizontal as supplied. If you want to do that, you'll need to add your own buoyancy.
So if you want to see straight out while sinking and see straight out when its at the bottom, you are good to go. If you want to pause mid water, it will point down a bit.

The display itself is better than my pictures show. However, that doesn't mean that they are great. Even in my aquarium where these were taken, I had trouble identifying what I was looking at. The controls don't help a lot here. So while I can adjust brightness, contrast etc, I can never get a "good enough" image.
There is no way to get a bigger display since there is no documentation or option. When I say no way, I mean without being an electronics person. If you understand electronics you won't have a problem, but that's not your average person.

I tested its waterproofing but submerging it for a long period (48hrs). It had no problems dealing with that.
It has no mount to mount on a fishing rod. The display unit base has four slots that can take a mount of some description, but it was not supplied with the unit so is no use. You can 3D print something, but it was meant to be supplied and was not. Even though the advertisement clearly stated it comes with it. Given I'm not the only person that has complained about this I'd say they need better quality control.

Will you be happy with it? Well that depends no how much effort you are willing to put in to make up for it's shortcomings or if you don't care about the aspects noted above.
For me, I'd need to do quite a bit of work to make it usable for anything other than a novelty, so it doesn't rate too high. The addition of a mount would go a long way to making this far more practical for most users. Too bad it doesn't come with one.
