    I've been really impressed with this PLAUD recorder. When I ordered it, I thought there was an 80% chance it was just junk, but thats not the case at all.

    I've been using it on and off for weeks and feel like I have a pretty good grasp of its capabilities and limitations. Overall I think it's a pretty compelling product, and even without all the AI magic, there's a solid well featured conversation recorder here. Here's my observation with this thing

    * The transcription and speaker identification works well. Really impressed at how this can hear a table full of speakers and correctly identify each of them
    * The app works GREAT. Way better than something you'd expect in this category (there's lots of small companies making money grabs, this feels like someone that truly wants to make a good product)
    * The pace of improvement is really surprising, in the week or two I've owned it the team has fixed issues with accidental recording AND added direct wifi connection and upload when docked on the charger.
    * The fact that you get a number of free minutes is amazing. This really lets you get a feel for it and actually gives you value each month without having to pay a fee. I personally don't plan to buy a subscription because the monthly minutes are enough for me.
    * The AI summarization and artifact generation works OK. I think they need to tune it a bit, as it leans towards pretty wordy summarizations with 20+ todos for me.
    * The included lanyard, watch adapter, and pin are all really great. It's a bit too futuristic for me to have an AI wearable, so I just keep it in my backpack and set it on the desk when I need it.

    I really do feel this company is on to something and would look forward to the improvements that I'm sure will keep coming. Personally I'd like to see
    * Better templates. In some cases, all I want is a list of action items that are assigned to me. This thing really wants to produce 2 pages of notes and then every action that was suggested
    * A slightly better speaker categorization flow - ideally just a quick classification where you play some of the recording and ask "who is this?". It should be doable in a minute or two
    * More improvements to trimming and pausing and accidental recording - I left it recording accidentally and it caught me doing some physical therapy. The meeting notes were an interesting mix of technical details followed by random notes on neck and upper back stretches :D

    Overall, super happy with this and will definitely continue reach for it in meetings.

In meetings, it helps me keep track of all the details, and the summaries make it simple to review key points later. When I’m brainstorming ideas or working on a project, I record my thoughts on the spot and organize them later. It’s also great for travel—its multilingual transcription lets me record conversations or interviews in different languages. Even for personal use, like saving family stories, it’s been a lifesaver.
