I initially gave this underwater camera a 1 star due to the menus being in Chinese and unable to change to English (or any other language) and while it did not disclose that on their page (which they absolutely should have & had the ability to change) I realized that wasn't fair as the camera itself, while quite basic in functionality, does work rather well once you figure out what menu options in Chinese does what (Turn On/Off the IR, turn up/down screen brightness etc.)
A couple weeks ago while fishing off of a local pier, a elderly man was teaching his very young grandson how to fish. When I asked the boy if he wanted to SEE the fish, the smile on his face warranted the 1 to 3 star review. Fast forward to today when I went fishing out on a local lake & wanting to see what was below me, tossed the camera over the side of the boat. Bass, Bluegill & Perch were all fascinated with the camera, each of which wanting a selfie as they fought one another to get in front of the camera and so came to look at it, allowing my daughter & I in turn a closeup look of the fish.
The clarity of the camera as well as the screen is pretty impressive considering the price, with a nice long cable allowing you to get down deep. The downside is the cable itself is on the thin(er) side and so past 15', you'll have next to no control fine tuning which way the camera point & thus what the camera looks at. A small bracket comes with the cameras screen, allowing it to be connected to your pole for ice fishing, though past the novel first few fish you watch take your bait, will quickly become more of a hindrance than help, especially since it is just a camera and so does not have a DVR, to record those giant fish that "Got away"
As this is my 1st underwater camera, I have nothing to compare it to, but its a fun and cheap little piece of tech. It has a rather large built in battery, which should easily last your entire fishing trip. With the sun screen up, I was able to record the screen with my cell with next to no sacrifice in visual clarity so if you really want to record what's below, using your cell is doable.
