They transmit clearly, are pretty loud when volume is cranked all the way up. The multi channel scan feature is very nice if you only have one radio and want to listen to multiple stations. If you through dash mount it (like I did) make sure you buy the mounting push brackets for it which are sold seperately. Overall a decent VHF for the price.
