5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Just Glad it Arrived

I purchased the Amazon Kindle Scribe leather folio cover as part of a bundle. Almost a month after ordering and numerous date changes for arrival, I received the case. It looks like it was a return. The box was creased and torn where the opening tab was. That was a slight disappointment and a concern. I wonder if there was supposed to be something in the box that wasn't there? With that said, the folio case holds the Kindle in place securely enough that, I don't worry it will fall out with normal use. The case is very thin, very light, and looks very sleek. I don't like the big Kindle embossed on the front of the folio case, I'd rather that be on the back of the case somewhere preferably in small letters. I guess I overlooked that when I made my selection. I do like the angles the case provide for writing and reading. After two and a half, almost three weeks with no protection for the device, I decided I'm happy it arrived and I have something protect my investment. How well its going to hold up over time I cannot say. I see that the leather scratches easily, I inadvertently brushed my fingernail (I have natural short nails) across the cover reaching for the stylus and I see it made a scratch mark, I was able to rub it out a little but I can still see where my fingernail brushed across it. I guess I can say it has a weathered look now.

    Update September 26, 2024

After using my Kindle Scribe off and on over the past 7 months, I can say, "I'm happy with my purchase." I have a device that meets my needs for reading and taking handwritten notes. No, I can’t write the note in the margins of the books I read but I can get my thoughts down before I forget them. I like how the written notes can be seen on all my devices with the Kindle app. If I edit a note on one device it’s edited on all. I’m better at using the Kindle Scribe now even so, some problems I mentioned in my initial review still remain, like system crashes when I use the lasso tool and the inability to copy and paste text from the e-book to notes. Scribe makes it easy to collect written notes and distill them into a concise summary document. I don't type with the Scribe. In fact, if I need to type a note, I’d use the Kindle app on my iPhone. I have not explored whether or not the Scribe would work with a Bluetooth keyboard and I wouldn’t want that anyway because it would take away from the simplicity of what the Scribe is - a reader that allows you to take notes.

I still give this e-reader high marks and recommend it highly for e-reading and note taking. Other pluses include, the notebook is great for those who like to write rather than type their thoughts. Handwritten notes can be changed to text even if the process is somewhat clunky. You can listen to and read book at the same time, something I like to do when I have trouble focusing. Overall, the Scribe is not a one tool that can do everything you might want a e-reader/e-notebook to do but what it does do, I think it does well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Cover For Kindle Scribe!!

This is the best kindle cover ever I have used. You can use it like a stand, so when I don't use it, you can keep it in table like a stand, and it looks like a photo frame. Also, the lather is durable, I have being using it around a year now and it does not have any issues yet. I would recommend everyone to choose this since it is a product of amazon. Official products will always have a great quality. Thank You!!

This is an expensive case but feels premium quality. It's a better value to get this as part of the Kindle scribe bundle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but looks and feels great

This is a nice folio cover for my scribe. I love the look and the pen holder is nice and snug. It is held on only by magnets so when trying to open under the covers it sometimes slips off and is a pain to put back on in the dark. This could have been solved with small straps on the corners holding the Kindle in place. The retail price is way too high for this cover but buying "used like new" was more tolerable (that's how I got mine). I take my scribe to church with me as I like my bible from "kindle unlimited" and with the scribe its easy to get around quickly between passages. I needed a cover that looks good and this is great for that.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Bargain! Bought used but looked brand new!!!
Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024
I bought a used (sold as like-new condition) at about $27 and I was so happy to see that it looked like a brand new one! See my photos. I was SO extremely disappointed with my premium leather one (dark emerald) because it gets easily scratched up and scuffed up everywhere and it bleeds, and I believe based on the material, it will also stain easily! You can see my review for that one.

This leather folio does not easily get scratched or scuffed. It does not bleed nor does it stain easily. This one is by far superior than the premium leather folio!

I have to say, this is one of the best deals that I got from Amazon!

    UPDATE:
I love my first one so much that I spend about $30 more for another used Like-New in Burgundy. It did not disappoint - looked like brand new!

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but not very protective. Functional issues exist
Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2024
The case is leather and looks nice on my Kindle Scribe. However, it's not as functional as I would like. I mainly bought it is to protect my Kindle, but the Scribe is held in only by magnets and some raised corners at the bottom and these are not sufficient to keep it firmly in place. Soon after I bought the Kindle, someone jostled me while I was carrying it over a hard floor and I dropped it. As soon as it hit the ground, the case separated from the Scribe, and they both went in different directions. Although the Kindle still works after this, there are now some long cracks in the glass of the screen that are visible. I feel like the case offered very little protection.

The case is designed so that you can fold the front cover behind and it can fold into a triangle so that it provides an inclined writing surface or holds the Kindle upright for viewing. This looks good in theory, but it isn't super stable and as time goes by, the fold at the top seems to be loosening. Although I haven't had any troubles with the two other folds in the top cover, they seem a little flimsy, and it fells like they are not going to last so long. These folds also make the cover seem somewhat floppy, and that, together with the loosening top hinge and fairly weak magnets, allows the top cover to slide around somewhat over the front of the Scribe. This makes it feel somewhat unstable and harder to hold firmly, and reduces the sensation that this cover will protect the scribe well.

I've only had the cover for about five months and haven't subjected it to much use, but the soft surface on the inside is getting a bit worn and tired looking.

The pen loop works well and is more secure than the magnetic attachment at the side of the device.

I eventually gave up on using covers for my Kindle Paperwhite, and it hasn't sustained any damage over several years. I feel like I may eventually give up on using a cover for the Scribe too.
