5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds great!

Man these are a deal, so far they have worked flawlessly. They have been in the boat now for 4 months currently going through a winter. I live in Southeast Alaska so cold, wet, humid. On hot days there was condensation in the unit. My guess is that it’s moisture locked in from the factory when the unit was sealed hasn’t caused issues yet. My unit is in a covered cabin with an open back. The unit won’t be receiving direct rain but will be living in moisture. Will update review if something happens to them. The sound is awesome in our small cabin. I think the aluminum amplifies the sound. On step with a two-stroke you can for sure hear it in the cabin without it being cranked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great unit, but get an amplifier

I am very happy with the quality of the audio system! I bought mine to install in my side by side so that I could have some music while I'm out plowing snow and it works great for that. The sound isn't super awesome, it's kind of "tinny" without much base, but part of that may be because I just have the speakers zip tied to the roll cage when really they should be mounted in a box. I intend to get some different speakers eventually. Also, I'm sure that an amplifier would help quite a bit. Overall, I'm happy with the quality of the unit and how quickly it connects to bluetooth. I would recommend you get an amp to go with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars It is a nice stereo with weatherband, but some notes before you buy....
Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2022
I do like the product, but there are some things I wish I understood better before installing.
The product photos skimp on showing you the wiring; and I can see why. Unlike some radios I've installed in the past there is no "wire harness connector" where you can readily unplug the unit. The harness out the back of the radio has both RCA plugs and bare wires for speakers. I would STRONGLY encourage buying a package of RCA plugs and not using the crimping option that I did. The bare wires are VERY short and I was very concerned when one wire broke and I had to shorten it.

They do not talk much about the USB plug that is included. That's because it is essentially pointless as delivered. It is only for a trickle charge of your phone; it does not allow music connection. Additionally, it's this silly dongle that is only a few inches from the BACK of the radio. There is no provision for mounting the USB end. I'm sure many of you boaters will find the same thing I did ....it's totally unreasonable to climb up under the mounting location to find the USB end to plug in the phone (for slow charging only). That said, after installing I found out they offer a mountable USB connector (on amazon for about $15 more). So if you want this feature, mounted where you can actually use it, buy the adapter.

The Bluetooth connection was beyond easy. That's the problem. It syncs with zero security; anybody, even the boat next to you, can sync on the fly. I started up the scan on my phone and it simply connected; no input from the radio required. You may like this super easy connect; I see it as a flaw. At least let me "accept" the connection on the radio screen.

It's not really a problem, but I do wish the guru's of smart would have made the mounting technique better. It's a metal bracket that attaches via screw posts to the rear of the unit; it clings to the back of the opening you cut. This makes the "installed" unit even longer than described; I just squeaked it in. I wish the design guru's had just put a 3" threaded lock nut on the back and avoided the problem.

With the understanding of the issues above, it is a nice stereo; easy to use. Much better reception than my previous radio. If you add on the RCA connectors and the mountable USB adapter, you're likely to be very happy. It would be awesome if they would just package these things WITH the unit, or at the very least, suggest them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Good

I have only had this for a few weeks. I can't honestly say how it would withstand any rain, but I have washed my boat, and didn't spray the radio as it is not "Water Proof". I am pleased with the sound for the price. As for installation, wow, it took some contorting and a few words, but that's not the fault of the radio/speakers. It took around 6 hours or so to complete the entire install because I wasn't able to see up under the dash to install the bracket and nuts. I would recommend this product. For the price and sound, I don't see how you can go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact size, relatively easy to install, big sound

Installed in my Polaris Ranger in just a few hours. Need the proper tools and additional hardware to make the job go smoothly. Hole saw, connectors, crimper, etc. Makes riding dirt roads that much more fun. No negative issues have arisen yet. We enjoy the Bluetooth function and the speakers, although small, pack a big sound. It comes with an antenna which I didn't realize and I bought one in addition to this unit. The provided antenna performs fine and I will return the other when it finally arrives.
