5.0 out of 5 stars Works like magic

I had a batch of mead that refused to clear. I added this and it was clear in a day. Just be sure to follow the instructions. You need to add boiling water and add the clay very slowly while stirring. Don’t stop stirring till it’s dissolved. Then make sure to let it sit for an hour. After that it works great.

I brought a cup of water to a rolling boil then began adding the betonite little by little while whisking, after it dissolved, I added more and so on. This kept it from clumping. Noticed it clearing up my brew within an hour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cleared my mead in less than 24 hours

As the title states it did a great job at clearing my mead I put 2 grams in half a cup of boiling water. I then stirred until it was throughly mixed. Finally I waited for it to cool to room temperature and threw it in my gallon jug of mead. I definitely recommend this product

1.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not food grade

It has a very weird smell and very coarse. The description says food grade but it’s not even suitable for bath water. Wish I had believed the reviews

This is what you need to clarify your home brew. It’s a good product. I had to smash a hole in the lid to get to the bentonite, as the lid wouldn’t budge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mix very slowly into hot water

This was my first time using bentonite as a clarifier so I was trying to stick to the instructions on the label. My first attempt gave me a clay glob that had no hope of dissolving and I was a bit confused. After looking into it a bit I found that the right way to do it is to start with the half cup of hot water, then very slowly sprinkle in the two teaspoons of bentonite. Don't add it all at once, sprinkle some and stir until it's dissolved, then repeat until the two teaspoons are done. Once I got that worked out I was able to pitch it in and it worked pretty well at flocculating the floaters.
