    This is the best vegan jerky, hands down. The use of mushrooms fits well within a whole foods , plant based diet. My husband and I don’t eat dairy, gluten, natural flavoring, added processed sugar or sugar alcohols. This is the ONLY jerky we’ve found that we can freely enjoy! It’s a hard fete to accomplish such incredible taste and texture while maintaining a shelf stable plant based product without compromising it and yet Moku delivers! The Hawaiian teriyaki flavor is our favorite! We’re truly grateful to have come across such a mindful brand! Now, if only they could use coconut or avocado oil instead of sunflower.

    Generally, I'm not a huge fan of jerky, and I always raise an eyebrow at vegan substitutes for what would normally be a non-vegan food. I mean, butter is butter, and vegan butter is ... something else. But this stuff is GOOD! The texture isn't too tough, the taste is fantastic, and it's much healthier than traditional meat jerky, both for you and for the planet. I've tried all three flavors and think they're all pretty stellar, but I think the original and the sweet/spicy are my favorites.

    I have had the 3 pack of sweet and spicy flavor on auto order for about a year.

    This last batch however, the first bag I opened tasted horrible. I still had 1 piece of my old bag left, so I taste test compared and it was totally off. I was so worried and disappointed that the formula must have changed. However, I decided to grab another one out of the new 3 pack, and it tasted correct! So, I investigated the bag and its the same ingredients, same expiration date, and same lot number.. why do they taste wildly different?! I will unfortunately be switching brands, as for the price, having an inedible bag out of this 3 pack is way too costly to sustain. I'm also afraid there must be quality control issues given the wide difference in flavors when both bags are supposedly from the same batch. I'm bummed because I have loved this flavor for so long.

    Update:
    The company reached out to me and sent an updated sample: it was MUCH better. They mentioned that they updated their formula, and I can definitely tell.

    This batch was MUCH better than the last one I had. All of the packs were fresh and there were no strange smells. The Original flavor is a bit bland for me, but that doesn’t mean much since I don’t typically purchase original in anything.

    My absolute favorite was the sweet and spicy! That is the flavor I most often go for when I buy things, but I did think it could be a bit more spicy (I just like spicy things). All in all, I would buy this again.

    It still doesn't taste like meat, and you shouldn't expect it to.

    I'll be perfectly honest with you: I hated this. I've had mushroom jerky of a different brand before and loved it, so I was surprised I disliked this one so much. Maybe it was because of the type of mushroom used, maybe it was the plant additives added, maybe it's the flavoring used. But I didn't like the smell, taste, or texture of this and I will not have it again. Felt a bit sick to my stomach, actually. A lot of other people seemed to like it though, so whoever is reading this might like it as well.

    As a side note, I have read some comments saying this is comparable to meat jerky and I am shocked to high heaven. I am NOT a vegan, and eat meat jerky quite often, and this is nothing like it.

    I just want to say as much as I would like to be vegetarian, I am not. Although I limit my meat consumption, I love the flavor it offers as someone who loves to cook and eat. I love jerky, but as someone who eats little meat, especially red meat, it’s kind of off the table. With that in mind, I’ve tried a lot of plant based jerky and never return as a regular customer because it never lives up to the hype. I found Moku by accident searching for a low carb snack and here’s what I can tell you. It’s like crack. Not only is it delicious, like can’t stop won’t stop delicious, the texture is really close. The closest I’ve ever experienced. My husband is a steak and potatoes guy. I gave him some without telling him that it was plant based and he complimented the texture saying it was softer than some of the other brands we’ve tried. My husband is a stubborn, skeptic. I was shocked that he liked it as much as he did without question. I wish they sold it in larger quantities or bags with multiple servings because my little ones loved it too!

    Uhm, interesting enough flavors, and texture. As something to munch on, or bite, it is ok, maybe?

    Other than having flavors which jerky can have, I would not label or refer to it as jerky.

    As for the main ingredient, mushroom, I tried munching on uncooked mushrooms for comparison. Different flavor, equally meh.

    These may have a place in some people's snack bin. I'd rather munch on sauteed mushrooms and other jerky (vegan or not).
