Bauducco Foods

The Bauducco story starts back in 1948 when Carlo Bauducco traveled from Italy to Brazil and brought his family’s original Panettone recipe along with a precious piece of mother dough. Four years later, with the help of his wife and son, he opened their first pastry shop in a traditionally Italian neighborhood in São Paulo, Brazil. Bauducco started creating a complete line of products, including wafers, toasts and cookies, which turned the company into the largest baked goods brand in Latin America. In 1961 my family had an Italian exchange student, and at Christmas time, his mother sent a gigantic Panettone to us. Best thing I'd ever tasted. For years, you had to go to Italy treat your tastbuds to this most delicious of all cakes. They have finally become available in this country , but it's lovely just to be able to order up on Amazon. This Balducci brand is quite comparable to the original Motta's that we used to get in Italy. My four sisters and I have been sending them to all. the grandchildren at Christmas time -- it's our little family tradition in honor of our Italian 'big brother' and his family. And I love the little mini-sized cakes -- just enough to savor the wonderfulness, without eating a whole big one by myself!

Fresh, more fruit in them than the big ones. Bought a big classic panetone a few weeks after I got these classic minis and it was dry with very little fruit in it. So am waiting on a new order of minis to come in soon.

Enough for Two People!

When I ordered this I did not realize it was a mini panettone although I should have known that because of how inexpensive it was! This is enough for two people if you just cut it in half. It is good with a little butter. I did not break out because this must not have very much palm oil in it. I got two more arriving today and my husband loves this cake bread! I can see myself ordering this a lot in the future! It is so delicious! Usually this is a holiday treat once a year but it really is worth having more often!!!

Delectable vanilla panettone....

Is this panettone a cake or bread? It is neither and both at the same time...and happens to be a hybrid. It is a delicious combination of both, infused with a hint of vanilla and very fresh. It is so tiny that I thought I could have eaten the whole thing with a cuppa of milky tea that I was drinking, however, this delicious panettone is so rich that I cut only a small portion, and that sufficed for the present moment. I wrapped the rest in plastic wrap, placed it in its Bauducco box, and in the refrigerator it went for another time. This panettone is not cloyingly sweet, but it is moist and has just the right amount of sweetness and a hint of vanilla...a very sophisticated accompaniment to the beverage of your choice...be it a cuppa, an espresso, etc. I was thinking of adding some raspberry fruit spread to the panettone, but that would be gilding the lily. This panettone stands on its own for flavor and freshness, and a small portion goes a long way due to its incredible richness.
