  2. How did we get our start?

    Founder Michael Pan discovered this snack while visiting his extended family in Malaysia. His family are vegetarian, and he was surprised with the taste and texture of this snack. He knew he had something special to share with the world.

A non vegetarian friend brought this on a camping trip and I just had to try it. First bite and I was hooked. It literally is the best vegan jerky I have tried to date and I have tried a lot. The flavor the texture, everything is a winner in my book. Several of our other non vegetarian friends also loved it. I will be buying this on a regular basis for sure.

I love having jerky on a road trip- it's a great and healthy-ish snack. I chose to try these in an effort to get away from the beef ones. I couldn't even eat the one piece I had and ended up throwing the whole bag away. I knew to expect a weird texture since it's dried mushrooms, but it was really chewy- almost inedible. Then the flavor hit me- one of the most foul things I've tasted. It was supposed to be salt & pepper- a flavor I chose expecting it would be, well, salt & pepper. It was sweet, tasted like fake smoke flavor- definitely not salt & pepper. And it just seemed stale, even though it was freshly opened. Oh, don't get me started on the smell.
I'll stick with other road trip snacks...

I've tried most of Pan's jerky flavors, I have yet to try the curry. I particularly like the Zesty Thai. I have recently gone vegan, on the advise of my endocrinologists (so not my idea originally), and sometimes crave things from my carnivorous past. In reading other people's reviews, I wonder if people who think this is too chewy have ever had traditional beef jerky(?) For those who think it is too expensive, I originally thought that myself. While no, it's not an inexpensive item, I have recently tried to make some homemade mushroom jerky and that has been illuminating in terms of expense. The volume lost during marinating and the cooking/drying process is tremendous!! For the cost of ingredients plus my time, Pan's is looking way more economical to me.

OK - well I thought my beef jerky at my local supermarket was expensive, until I bought these! I know, I should have read the listing better on Amazon, but I did not...

I bought these because I turn to SharkTank ever so often when I end the news and need something to watch for 30 mins or so... During an episode, they had a 3 minute summary this product and the seller and how much money he had made along with his Shark. The video showed it being manufactured by smiling people in a great place... And, that, is when I saw the (larger) packets of mushroom jerky falling off the end of a conveyer belt. I will say those packages looked WAY bigger than what showed up on my doorstep.

So - buyer beware - these things are tiny.

They are pretty good though. There was no option for me to purchase a 3 pack of three different flavors, so I purchased the Teriyaki. Much more chewy (good) than I thought mushrooms could be. I am not vegan. I love steak, at least once a week. But these were pretty good. Just a terrible value - in my mind.

Sorry, but these are nothing more than favored dried mushrooms. They have no jerky taste or texture. It would be like calling a dried apricot with flavoring salt on it Jerky. It is not anything close to jerky (other than the name).
I read a review on another website and was fooled into buying this pack. I tried. I wanted to love it. It is bad!
I wish beyond beef would bring their Jerky back. It was 90% there (taste and texture).

I had a great experience ordering this product, it came fast, nice packaging, and customer service was responsive. If you like mushrooms i think this is worth a try.

I took two bites of this Moku mushroom jerky (Zesty Thai flavor) -- the first to try it and the second to confirm just how horrid the first bite tasted. I threw out the rest (all three bags). I typically buy Pleather Black Pepper jerky, which is by far the best vegan jerky of the dozens I've tried, but I was looking for something different. Should have stuck with the classics. Highly *not* recommended.

I find shiitake mushrooms to be an acquired taste, with a unique flavor so not everyone will like them. Tastes exactly like shiitake mushrooms but in jerky form. Would recommend if you like the taste of shiitake mushrooms otherwise it might not be for you.
