About this item

NON-PAREIL - These are the most prized capers because of their firm texture and delicate flavor. Non-pareil translates to “has no equal”.
A DELICIOUS SEASONING OR GARNISH - We suggest to unsalt capers before use (by soaking in water for up to 15 minutes). Add a wounderful unique tang to your sauces, seafood, meat, poultry, pasta or salads. As visually appealing as they are tasty!
USE: Use capers non-pareil in both hot and cold recipes, such as chicken piccata, crostini with salmon and cream cheese, and pasta puttanesca.
WASH: Simply wash away the salt and soak Fratelli D'Amico capers in water for 15 minutes. Then they are ready to use!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great texture & flavor

Why are salted capers so hard to find now?? But they're worth it! A quick rinse or brush off and into my tuna or fish dish they go. They're super plump and taste much fresher than wet-canned capers. Just know they will pack a big salt punch unless you brush or rinse them.

Probably will rinse before using them in my next salad. Otherwise, they did add some Zing to my Chicken Salad, next is Tuna Salad.

I used these to make a pesto originating from the island Pantelleria off the coast of Sicily. Rinsing off the salt prior to use, the taste of capers really comes through which is masked from the common brine solution most capers are sold in even after rinsing them. If you like capers this is a worthy try, just don't forget to rinse well first.

Got these for a recipe, usually use the ones in brine, but these are really good! They’re salty, but that’s their purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior flavor, rugged packaging

Highly recommended! Capers in salt are now nearly impossible to find locally. These are on the larger side (6-8mm) which is exactly what I wanted. They are quite piquant, and the salt is very coarse, which makes it easy to deal with (keep or rinse, as you prefer). My only wish is that they were available in a size between this small jar & the 1kg bucket.

I was hesitant to order any foodstuffs in glass from A because of past experience, but really wanted to try these. I've ordered twice now & both times each jar arrived safely in its own small but sturdy cardboard box from the original distributor, inside the larger A packaging.

1.0 out of 5 stars I GAGED and spit them out

As much as I love capers, i had never heard of capers packed in salt. These are positively nasty.

Then I got ticked seeing that they were not returnable. I looked at the comments and one warned that they should be rinsed. I tried one and spit it out.

I soaked them in water for a couple days and they were like rock salt. Think real hard about getting them

3.0 out of 5 stars Too salty

Even after following the instructions (soak in water for 15 minutes) they were still too salty for me, and didn't like the extra salt gave to the pasta I tried them on. Their flavor is good, but you need to use them in something that goes well with the extra salt (or adjust your recipe accordingly). These are genuinely Italian and are very good quality, but didn't work for my personal use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be sure to rinse them

We haven't had capers before, so we opened the jar and popped one in our mouth. Big mistake. (Cue laughter from gastronomes.) After rinsing them and following directions, we discovered that they add a little variety of taste and texture to salads and pasta.
