While it was tricky to insert this into the existing lid, I did finally get it in, and it works great at keeping the straw in place and making it a straw cup. It is not totally leak proof, but nothing with a straw and it is. So I do not consider that a drawback.
These seem very well-made, and I think will last me a long time.
