I had a good impression of it immediately. The packaging looks just like the pictures and just makes it feel like a luxurious treat. It smells so good—the mango-vanilla scent immediately made me think “ice cream” when I opened it. The scent is quite strong. Since I can be pretty sensitive to strongly scented products I wasn’t sure if this would end up working for me, but whatever they used to scent it does not trigger my usual scent-headaches. The smell lasts for hours too; I used it on my legs in the afternoon and could still smell it when I got changed for bedtime.
Since it’s body butter, it is very thick. I also noticed that a little goes a long way; I just get a small amount on the tip of my finger at a time to make sure I don”t overdo it. It makes my skin feel softer right away and that feeling lasts for a good amount of time. I believe it has improved the condition of my skin where I’ve used it. It just feels nice as I apply it, and it absorbs quickly without feeling overly greasy.
The body butter comes with a little wooden spoon, though I haven’t used it yet since it’s so easy to just take a bit off the top while it’s still so full. I imagine it could be helpful to get it out as it empties; the jar is very narrow. There isn’t a built-in way to store the spoon with the jar. It kind of just looks like a disposable spoon, like you might get at an ice cream parlor (maybe that influenced my initial impression of the scent). I don’t think it will be much help as the jar gets more empty because it’s pretty much the same height as the jar, but I have a mini rubber spatula that I keep around for things like this, so it won’t be a problem for me.
Overall I’m really impressed with this product. It’s a lot pricier than I’d usually go for, but since a little goes a long way I expect it will prove to be worth the investment after the jar I’ve received has run out. It is a lovely way to treat yourself, or could make a nice gift for a loved one.
