I assumed it would be a tighter tolerance and more slide onto the camera rather than sit atop it. I think I've snuggled it up with the addition of 3 heavy guitar pick. Without some way to snug it up, or perhaps a rubber band around the shade and camera to provide some hold, I feel that the shade would fly off in a good breeze. Since I record all day on a boat, this is of great importance to me. The shade does not extend over the lens so it won't help with lens flare, but also won't be in frame when I record.
Otherwise, the shade is well made and light weight. I have high hopes that it will help with the frustration of gopros overheating all the time.
