5.0 out of 5 stars Less is More - Easy to add if not enough.

I am new to dentures. Extractions less than 3 months ago. I did a soft reline a couple weeks ago, but since my gums are changing shape as they continue to heal, the reline got a little loose pretty quickly. That's where Cushion Grip shines!

Cushion Grip is not an adhesive like cream or powder pastes/glues. You will have to wait quite a while after applying it before eating again. It is more like a soft reline, though not as durable. For me it is a soft reline extender. Easier to use than soft reline, no mixing, no hurry, and helps me get a good fit until the next soft reline.

I asked via chat on their website about putting on top of soft reline, and they thought I needed to remove the soft reline first. I decided to try it anyway, and I am finding that it may not adhere as well to the soft reline but works.

Read and follow the instructions carefully. Look for videos on you tube. I put a pyrex glass measuring cup of water in the microwave for a minute to heat the water. Then the tube goes in the hot (not boiling) water cap down for at least 5 minutes. You need to soften the contents at the cap end of the tube. Use the included key tool to wind the sealed end of the tube after squeezing out the first round ball, squeezing from the bottom of the tube, to allow the key to go on the tube. Then the round ball goes into my palm, and rub it back and forth into a thin rope. The rope goes into the trough of lower or upper and mash it flat into the trough and smooth it toward the open ends of the denture trough. The first application I also added to the palate arch of the upper, but found it was not needed in my case for good suction.

Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before inserting dentures and bite down. I feel a very slight burning sensation, but it goes away in a short while. I recommend not eating or drinking for as long as possible. 2 hours minimum, but 6 hours is best to get a decent cure, so don't put in new when you are hungry. Some people prefer to do this at night, leave the denture in place overnight and it will be ready to go in the morning. The Cushion grip will have redistributed and that is why "Less is More". If you did not get enough it is easy to rinse and dry and add more (another thin rope) right on top. After curing it can be trimmed, but is easier if you don't have to. Cushion Grip will harden in air over time, but will remain pliable if in water or denture cleaning solution.

Like anything with dentures, it takes practice to learn how these materials can work for you; or not.... I find it does act as a cushion and is softer on my gums than even the soft reline. When I put the dentures in first thing in the morning, I can feel the Cushion Grip softening as it warms, just from wearing and after a few minutes, or as many as 10-15 minutes, the softening allows it to fit better as the suction improves. Can also be put in hot water to soften again if needed.

I really like the thermoplastic material and I think each tube will provide many applications as I am using very little each time. I have already ordered more and it is just another "tool in the toolbox" for more comfortable wear. I plan to delay permanent dentures for about a year to allow my gums to be more fully ready for the permanent dentures as I would like to need fewer relines once I have them. Cushion Grip will give me comfort until my gums stop or at least slow changing shape. No hurry now for the permanent dentures even though I have already purchased them. I can wait, thanks to soft reline (I use Reline-It, as the price is very good) and Cushion Grip. I think I will get much more than 4 days from most applications. I am able to do without adhesive on the upper using Cushion Grip for a better fit.

This review was done by my husband, as he is the one using Cushion Grip. I've had an full upper denture for over 20 years. Recently had my last 7 teeth on the bottom extracted and an immediate lower denture put in. I've used Poligrip powder for my upper denture for years and will continue to, since it holds for up to 5 days. I had heard all the horror stories about lower dentures so I was very nervous and a lot of anxiety after my surgery. My dentist told me after a week I could start using some adhesive on my lower denture, so I did. I tried every possible adhesive on the market. I wanted to use the Poligrip powder on my lower denture but since you turn it upside down when you put your lower denture in, I just couldn't get it to hold either. There were spots on my lower denture I just couldn't get to hold at all. I could not eat anything solid. I was sick of pudding, apple sauce, baked potatoes, soups and all the liquids. I was searching so hard to find something different to try in place of adhesives. I googled and googled and found cushion grip. I watched all the videos, read all the reviews and decided to order it and give it a try. I was very careful to do it exactly as the instructions told me. It was just 2 days ago I put it in. I put mine in right before I went to bed so it could cure overnight. I went to work the next morning hoping for good things. During the day at work I stuck my finger in my mouth and bit down on it and could not believe my lower denture stayed perfectly in place!! I immediately called my wife and told her, I said, I have no idea how this stuff does this!! That first night I ate a hamburger and tator tots! I could not believe it. The second night we had pepperoni pizza!! I chewed pizza, my favorite thing in the world to eat, I chewed it and my lower denture stayed in place. Wow!!! I was blown away. My extraction spots are still sore so I still can't bite down hard, like biting a piece of pizza for a bite, so I used a fork and chewed it easily. In due time, when my extractions heal more I'll be able to do that also. I couldn't wait to write a review for anyone struggling with their lower denture. I'll continue to use Poligrip on my upper, and cushion grip on my lower. Listen, it's very important to follow the instructional videos and directions exactly to have success as I did. I used too much in spots and not enough in other spots, but I'm learning for the next time. Please if you are having problems with your lower denture and having no luck with the adhesives, PLEASE give cushion grip a try, you'll be shocked and extremely happy. My anxiety is gone and I'm eating normal food again. I'd give cushion grip 100 stars if I could!! Thank you cushion grip for giving me a product that lets me feel normal again with having dentures!! I've already ordered a second tube and I'll be doing the automatic renewal order soon. Thanks again and good luck and God Bless to all of you struggling with your dentures!!

Definitely helps with ill fitting dentures. No more cuts in my mouth from rubbing. Nice soft cushion. Only downside is the taste when you first apply but goes away quickly.

This stuff did not work at all for me! First time I tried it, the dentures were still loose, no help at all. The second time I thought that maybe I didn't use enough so I used more and that completely threw off my bite! I followed the instructions to the tee and the product was of no help to me at all.
