I bought this shoe organizer for my wife and I am very happy with it (she is too). I tried one of those organizers that is like a big sheet with a bunch of pockets on it... useless. The pockets were too small to hold 90% of the shoes she has (just one shoe per pocket), and shoes that have any kind of weight to the heel pull on the pocket and hang way out away from the door. That thing got returned.

But this one I like. The "shelves" are deep enough to hold just about any kind of shoe, and the construction is sturdy enough that I feel pretty confident that it will last. The metal tube frame is very lightweight but the design is good and it seems like it will do the job long term. The hooks that go over the door are padded on the inside and the frame has plastic endcaps on the parts that touch the door, so I don't expect it to do any damage to the door.

Now, as far as the assembly goes - yes, it comes with a full-size, multi-page instruction manual that is well written and has large, easy to comprehend diagrams, but the sequence of steps should be changed up to make the process much easier. The manual instructs you to assemble one vertical support and attach ALL of the horizontal rods in the first step. After having done this, you are supposed to slide the single piece mesh shelving over all of the horizontal bars. Imagine this and you'll understand. The mesh is extremely lightweight and porous, and the sleeves that fit over the horizontal rods are fairly snug. This means that you will have to slide a couple inches onto one rod, then a couple inches onto the next rod and so on. The whole time you are doing this, the mesh that you put over the first few rods is actively trying to work itself off. This is pretty frustrating and it takes a relatively long time to get all of the mesh over all of the rods.

    Here's my recommendation:
    1. Assemble the two vertical supports and hang them over the door at the proper distance apart.
    2. Connect the top horizontal rod to one side and slide the top sleeve of the mesh material completely onto the tube.
    3. Loosely connect the first rod to the other vertical support so that the mesh is trapped and can't go anywhere.
    4. Then slide the remaining horizontal rods into the remaining mesh sleeves and loosely connect both ends to the vertical supports.
    5. Repeat this until all of the rods are in place and then tighten everything up, making sure not to pinch the mesh at either end.
    6. Stand back and marvel at how easy that was.

This is how I wish I had assembled it. Efficient. Stable. Zero frustration. Try it out and let me know.

This is easy enough to put together, hooks pop on top of the door as intended, and offers ample space, the gray color isn't my favorite but it also isn't very noticeable because of all the black mesh. Seems sturdy enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and lots of room for shoes, but somewhat tricky assembly

Now that I have this shoe rack put together, it's great! ALL the shoes are finally off the floor of our closet, and we have plenty of space for more. It seems good and sturdy.

The downsides: assembly, while not difficult, is a little tricky. You have to make sure as you're threading the mesh part onto the frame that you didn't miss one of the shelves--check before attaching the second side pole. Otherwise, you might just have to unscrew some of the second side to re-do the mesh. (Yes, this is the voice of experience talking here.) The directions don't explain at all that for the bottom shelf, the next-to-last pocket in the mesh actually goes on the very bottom pole, and then the last pocket in the mesh comes forward to the next to last pole to form the bottom shelf--I had to puzzle that one out for myself.

Another downside for some people is that I can't get the closet door closed. This doesn't matter to me, because we never close this door--the closet is right off our bathroom. But I know for some people that might be an issue.

In the picture, for reference, the women's shoes are size 8.5, and the men's are 10.5

My house is over 100yo. Closet space is a luxury.
This rack is easy to assemble and easy to install. It is also very sturdy once you secure the bottom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Shoe Rack on the Market!
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2024
This shoe rack is one of the best things I've ever bought. Before, all of our shoes were either stuffed in an old, cloth organizer or piled on the floor; now, they're all neatly displayed and easier to keep clean, since they're not laying on top of each other in the closet.

There are only 2 downsides for us:
    (1) it definitely doesn't hold 36 pairs of shoes. My husband wears a size men's 9, and I wear women's 8-ish, and I can really only fit about 4 shoes on each shelf, for a total of 24 pairs. It manages to hold all of our shoes, but I was hoping to be able to store our daughter's shoes here as well. No big deal, though; it's still a massive improvement compared to how they were being stored before.
    (2) the height between the shelves is too low for a lot of my shoes, so I'm having to turning them sideways and/or lay them flat. I'm not sure that any shoe rack is really designed for wedges and boots with a heel, though, and at least they somewhat fit on this rack. I've never been able to find another over-the-door organizer that can hold bigger shoes like this one can.

Other than that, we love it! It was really easy to put together, and it's incredibly sturdy. Even the mesh seems like a good quality that should last a long while. The bars that go over the door are thin enough that we haven't had any issues closing the door. 10/10 would recommend, and I'm planning on buying a second one to go over our daughter's door for all of her shoes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect shoe rack!!

To be honest I shopped quite a bit to find the right shoe rack for my needs, and this exceeded my expectations. It’s sturdy, fits just right over the closet door, and has plenty of space to hold a lot of pairs of shoes. All while still being able to display the shoes nicely so I can see what to wear. The rack isn’t going to accommodate taller boots, but I wasn’t looking for that anyway. It’s great for tennis shoes, heals and sandals though. And price was right, compared to others that didn’t hold as many pairs.
